message from the ptsa president
On behalf of Langley High School's Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), it is a pleasure  to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year. The PTSA works closely with the school  administration and staff to support the curriculum  and provide programs that directly benefit our children. We could not do this without our Langley parents, who play a vital role in maintaining a tradition of excellence at our school.

I invite each of you to find a meaningful way to connect and engage with the Langley community. To do this, I encourage you to:

Attend PTSA Meetings. Be a parent in the know!  Plan to attend all of the PTSA meetings this year. Get to know our new Principal, Kim Greer, and hear her vision for our school. These meetings are a great opportunity to stay informed, discuss important issues, and have your  questions answered. The meetings will be held this year in our beautiful new Lecture Hall, Wednesday mornings at 9:30 am  on the following dates: Sep 12, Nov 14, Jan 16, Mar 13, May 8 .

Stay Informed. Our weekly PTSA newsletter, Langley eNews, is a great source of information about things going on at the school and in our community. Be sure to subscribe at www.ptsalangley.org so it will arrive in your inbox every Thursday. Check the PTSA website frequently for the latest updates and helpful links.

Volunteer. We rely on the time and expertise of our parents! Your participation in the PTSA will enhance your child's experience, give you a voice and help you stay connected. Make a pledge to volunteer at least once this year! There are multitudes of ways to get involved, including providing baked goods for Hospitality events, being a table leader at Senior Ethics Day, or chaperoning school dances. For more volunteer options, click here.

Invest in our children. Your PTSA membership and donation dollars provide many of the supplemental items that the Fairfax County Public School budget cannot, from basic supplies, such as skeleton models, to Chromebooks, iPads and computer monitors. Your donations also fund programs, such as substance abuse prevention programs, continuing education programs for teachers, teacher appreciation events, our newsletter, and much more. The PTSA would like to enhance our beautiful new facilities with the purchase of items such as common area furniture and courtyard landscaping. Your generous donations will assist us in the effort to improve our school facilities for our children and for future generations. Click here to donate and/or become a member of the PTSA.
Please don't forget that membership should be renewed annually and that PTSA dues are separate from class dues .

Provide Feedback. How can the PTSA better support you and your child? What changes would like to see at Langley? Is there a program you'd like to see implemented? Send questions, comments, and suggestions to me at [email protected].

I look forward to working with all of you to make this another successful school year.

~ Patty Burgess, PTSA President
new lhs parking lot procedures
The newly expanded parking lot  at Langley is receiving finishing touches. Bus routing and Kiss and Ride  planning is being finalized. Please allow extra time during the first week of school
while the new routine is being established.

Parking on LHS property during school hours is available only to students with an official FCPS hang tag. Parking hang tags were issued to seniors selected by lottery last spring. All cars parked without FCPS hang tags are subject to ticketing and towing. No students are allowed to park in the designated reserved and visitor parking spaces on the property and in front of the building. For more information, refer to the LHS website and search "parking".

Additional student parking passes may be allocated by lottery system -- as space permits -- later in the fall.  Please have your student expedite this process by parking on school property only if they have a hang tag.

No Hang Tag = No Parking
