Dear Federated Sisters,

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for embracing change at Institute. My vision began over a year ago based on member feedback. This tiny seed grew and grew into this amazing event. The reality exceeded my expectations because GFWC Georgia leaders embraced it and saw the potential of leading, encouraging and inspiring others.

The speakers were awesome. We were privileged to have GFWC 2nd Vice President Suellen Brazil and her husband Billy with us this weekend. The guests invited by our amazing CSP chairmen were very informative. And, wow, the hands on activities were incredible! All of the chairmen and committees outdid themselves. Thank you!

I look forward to seeing everyone at their district meetings. Earn another badge by bringing your Dr. Seuss book.

President's Special Project - Girl Scouts

We are enjoying our partnership with the Girl Scouts. They were a huge part of GFWC Georgia’s Institute weekend. Friday morning, they opened our LEADS Seminar. Saturday, Girl Scouts from 11 different troops helped clubwomen at Marketplace and passed out patches to members who visited the CSP booths. During the Saturday lunch meeting Sara Laine, a rising 11th grader at Lakeview Academy and Ambassador Girl Scout, spoke about her experiences as a Girl Scout. Over half of our membership raised their hands when asked if they were girl scouts! Here Tina is photographed with Vickie Henry, a member of the Covington Woman’s Club. The women who were in Vickie’s troop formed a strong bond when scouts and still meet once a year! Girl Scouts are our future, invite your local troops to club activities and support their initiatives.

Jr. Conference Corner

Thank you all so much for making “Institute Marketplace” a huge success. It was fun and a learning experience. I appreciate everyone who supported the Junior Conference by participating in our Fun Night and raising money for the Ronald McDonald House. A huge thank you to Teresa Hanna for sharing her journey of “Living with Diabetes” and educating us on the warning signs of this disease. Every part of the weekend from LEADS training to Sunday morning Junior Conference breakfast was motivating, and educational. I am so blessed to share this time with my GFWC federation sisters.

“Journey to Healthy Living”

In August:

Accelerate your exercise routine this month. Let’s walk four days a week for 15 minutes or longer.
Adapt and Arrange your schedule for some Me time. With school starting and many fall activities, find a few minutes for You to read, watch a favorite show or practice some yoga.
Authorize yourself to take a nap on the weekend. As women, we feel guilty to take an hour to rest in the middle of the day. Let’s just try it this month and see how it energizes you.
Award yourself with a favorite treat. Ice cream is always a favorite and somewhat Healthy!

Thank you for donating your shoes to Home Life's Soles4Souls project

Thank you for donating shoes to Home Life’s project – Soles4Souls. Home Life Chairmen, Barbara Cabaniss and Amelia Massey collected and delivered 110 pairs of shoes to the Nike store in Commerce, Georgia. The employees of Nike gladly boxed and shipped the shoes for us. We also delivered 29 pairs of shoes to the Goodwill store in Athens. These shoes were flats and heels (no rubber on them). Soles4Souls creates sustainable jobs and provides relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world. Every day children are prevented from attending school, adults are unable to work. Walking becomes unbearable. A new pair of shoes provides relief in many developing nations around the globe, in times of disaster, and helps bridge the economic gap in the United States and Canada. Shoes keep people healthy, happy and thriving. In many developing nations, walking is the primary mode of transportation. Every day millions are exposed to unsanitary conditions that lead to diseases. These diseases may lead to sickness, even death. They also keep children out of school leaving them without an education and continuing the cycle of poverty. With your help, we can provide a life-changing solution: a good pair of shoes.
