Join us for the November AIA Luncheon
The AIA November AIA Luncheon will take place on Thursday, November 14th at OSU-OKC in the Student Center on the 3rd floor from 11:30 - 1:00 p.m.  Our program will be:  The Renewed Flourishing of Oklahoma City's Northeast Side: The Heart of the African American Community.

The EastPoint Project on the northeast side of Oklahoma City is a reimagined outdoor mall given new life by the collaboration between the architects at Gardner, the developers at Pivot Project and the City of Oklahoma City. The east side of OKC has seen a lack of investment as a result of redlining and segregation that dates as far back as 1915. EastPoint aims to be a catalyst, to encourage public and private developers to invest in the east side, and to inspire the community to envision what the neighborhood could become by rebuilding, rehabilitating, and infilling empty lots. As a product of the partnership between Gardner, Pivot Project, the City of OKC, and the community of the east side, EastPoint hopes be the first of many new developments where ownership is a part of the leasing agreement, so that eastside business owners to have the opportunity to hold equity in the real estate to which they help give value.

AIA's "Embracing Our Differences. Changing the World" speaker series events launched in February, partnering with AIA Washington DC (AIADC), explored the imperative of expanding diversity in the architecture profession. The second event, in April, partnered with the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) discussed women in design.  During the third event, we learned from and engaged with a diverse panel of designers, leaders, and policy influencers who are shaping firm culture across the country to be more inclusive of the LGBTQI+ community.
The AIA is committed to broadening equity, diversity and inclusion to create a stronger profession. To support that mission, AIA has developed a number of programs and resources. Visit AIA's website for more information on the Institute's equity, equity, diversity and inclusion efforts.

NEWS OF INTEREST TO OUR MEMBERS
Attention Firm Leaders
Hello firm leaders -

This school year, I am serving as Professor of Practice for the University of Oklahoma Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture.  Specifically, I am coordinating intern development workshops for students and assisting 4th year students in finding jobs to fulfill their required paid internship in the spring semester.  The 4th year students will not have any other classes in the spring so they are available to work full time.
In the next few weeks, area firms should begin receiving letters, resumes, and applications as the students being their job searches.  Please give them your full consideration.    The students are an attentive, hardworking, and talented group with solid skills in design thinking, rendering/graphic layout, and Revit.  I am confident they will contribute to your firm's success.

If you already know you will be able to hire one or more students, please contact me directly so that I can advise the students.  Also please do not hesitate to contact me at (405) 971-4199 or lchronister29@gmail.com   if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.
