REMINDER: LEADERSHIP APPLICATIONS DUE AUGUST 28th
The CSG West Nominating Committee is accepting applications from Western legislators interested in serving as officers of CSG West or CSG National. The positions of  Vice Chair of CSG West  and Vice Chair of  CSG National  are open. Legislators elected to each role  will succeed to the positions of chair in 2021.
 
Border Legislative Conference
2018 BORDER LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE
The Border Legislative Conference (BLC), which brings together legislators from the U.S. and Mexico border states, convened its 31st forum on August 9-11, 2018, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The meeting provided an opportunity for participating legislators to engage in a dialogue of a bi-national agenda and discuss complex issues inherent to the 2,000-mile long U.S. - Mexico border region.

This year's BLC was led by New Mexico Senator Carlos Cisneros, 2018 BLC Chair and the great host state team comprised of other BLC members, legislative leadership, and integral legislative staff.

Legislative Council on River Governance
2018 LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL ON RIVER GOVERNANCE
CSG West's Legislative Council on River Governance (LCRG) held its annual meeting in Butte, Montana on August 20-21, hosted by LCRG Chair, Montana Representative Zach Brown. The Council is made up of appointed legislators from the four Columbia River Basin states of Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. Council members come together annually to share ideas and discuss issues of common concern. Eleven legislators and several guests attended the meeting, where they heard from 21 different speakers on a variety of topics.

Policy Academies

CSG Policy Academies provide state leaders customized training and a "deeper dig" on critical policy topics facing the states. Be sure to check out the 2018 schedule for topics and dates. Space for each academy is limited.
