GROWL
First GROWL August 22
Wednesday is our first GROWL Wednesday of the school year. Please be reminded that 9th grade students will be required to report to school at the regular time, 8:20 am. Students will report to their advisement classroom for attendance. After attendance, 9th grade students will follow their schedule (to be distributed Tuesday, August 21) to either CLAWS Academy or Study Hall/Intramural Sport (based on the student's request). During our first CLAWS Academy, students will attend the annual Club Fair.

10th, 11th, and 12th grade students have the option of arriving at school at 10:40 am on GROWL days.  10th - 12th grade students who arrive earlier than 10:40 am will be assigned to an area to work independently, work on group projects, or study with classmates. Periods 1 - 7 (please see schedule below) will begin at 10:50 am for all students.

Parents dropping students off at carpool should enter through the Bethany Bend entrance. If you drop your student off before 10:30 am, you can use the access road that runs parallel to Cogburn Road to drop off students in front of the cafeteria doors (facing Kings Ridge). Beginning at 10:30 am, students can be dropped off at the front of the school and students will enter the front doors. Driving students may enter through the back gate on Highway 9 to access the student parking lot. Note that the access road next to the gym will be closed for safety reasons.

Buses for all students will run on a regular schedule. 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students who take the bus to school will be required to remain on campus once they get off the bus and stay in one of the several supervised areas until 1st period begins.

Students who have Wednesday Dual Enrollment classes will meet at their regular time.

21st Century Learning
As the world changes, so do the essential skills our students need to be successful. This is the 21st Century, and as educators, we want to ensure our students learn the essential skills, knowledge, and dispositions needed to succeed in their adult life. We are currently preparing students for careers that may not even exist yet, and to solve problems we may not even know are problems yet. Teachers are incorporating 21st-century skills such as; communication, collaboration, problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity along with course content. Today's classroom may be more personalized than what you might recall from your own high school learning experience; teachers facilitate learning to individual students' needs, skills, and interests. This shift in instructional practice is a journey, and we invite you to experience a taste of 21st Century Learning through our Learning Labs at Open House.

For more information on 21st Century Learning, visit www.cambridgehs.org and watch the video, "What is 21st century education".
