President's Message - Karen Miller, CFP®, CPFA
Karen Miller
Hello Members:

Time flies when you are having fun! As trite as that is, it's true. I feel like I just started my role as FPA of Northern California (FPANC) Chapter president and yet by the time you read this, it will already be October and I'll be more than halfway through my term. Leading the chapter is really a team effort and takes the entire board to get things done.

Membership Survey
First, thank you to Landon for deciding it was time we poll the members and for creating the initial questions, and to the other board members for their input.

Also, thank you to everyone who took time from their busy schedules to participate in the recent membership survey. You can be honest...was it the chance at a $50 Amazon gift card that made you do it? In the end, it doesn't matter - the board truly appreciates your input! We have read each of your comments and will be using them to help form our strategic plans for FPANC for 2020 and beyond.

We recently reviewed the results at the October meeting but for those of you who were unable to attend, here are the findings. Our chapter covers a very large area mileage-wise compared to the Bay Area chapters: We start at the Oregon border and go southwest through Roseville/Sacramento to Vacaville/Fairfield and east to Reno, so it's a challenge meeting all of our members in person and creating ways for them to connect and find value in the organization. President-Elect - Landon Tymochko, MBA, CFP®
Remember how I said in the summer that the holidays would be on us before you knew it... well now they really are. There is a briskness in the air as fall sets in. Break out the Halloween costumes, and get ready for Thanksgiving!

Ok, on to the more serious stuff....

The first thing I'd like to do is thank everyone that completed our 2019 Membership Survey. ( Please refer above to Karen's summary of the results.)

This is good feedback and we appreciate you sharing it with us. As we head into next year, we will do our best to keep up the good, and try to address the things that need to be improved.

One thing we are specifically looking at to address the time and location issue is to identify alternate meeting venues in our region, and also to try to vary the meeting times. By doing so, we hope to attract members, and potential members, who may not ordinarily be able to attend Friday morning meetings in Rancho Cordova. Stay tuned, and keep sending us your ideas. Career Development - Daryl Wong, CFP®
When we think of matchmaking, many would think of apps such as Match.com, OkCupid, Tinder, or even the Bachelor/Bachelorette TV series. However, matchmaking can go beyond relationships to include recruiting players for recreational sports leagues, organ donors, and even finding career opportunities. Matchmaking can be as simple as matching two or more people together for a mutually beneficial purpose.

Over the course of the year, we've fielded a handful of inquiries from both job seekers and employers looking for seasonal or full-time help. Little did we know that our FPA Chapter meetings could be the hub for potential "first dates" between job seekers and employers.

We are very fortunate to have such an inclusive and supportive group at our local FPA Chapter meetings and it is apparent in each member's willingness to help one another. Afterall, we are in the business of helping people reach their goals, whether financial or career or life.

If you are in the market for a new job opportunity or are looking to hire, we encourage you to not only attend our meetings but also email us with your resume/job opportunity. We are extremely passionate about supporting our community and taking care of our members and we will work together to spread the word and connect you with any candidates we encounter.  Emails can be sent to [email protected]
