"At CBST, LGBTQ identity and HIV/AIDS status have been opportunities for connection based on shared exclusion and religious practice as a political act...As one of the first CBST flyers, which I think really captures CBST's mission, reads, 'Perhaps the greatest attraction of all is the opportunity openly to enjoy one's Jewishness and one's gayness.'"

The CBST Community Attends Friday Night Services From Home!
|
|
"I have been so missing everyone at CBST for Shabbat services in New York. A small silver lining to being at home in Philadelphia has been that Jeffrey has made challah for us every Friday.
"We reach out to the screen to 'touch' the Rabbi and her challah while joining hands - along with two of our children and their partners who are all sheltering with us - over our own challah fresh out of the oven."

Songs to Soothe the Soul
Performed by the CBST Community Chorus, Joyce Rosenzweig, conductor, at CBST's 2016 Shirah Concert, "There's No Place Like Home."
This gorgeous song is considered one of the most beloved LGBTQ anthems. It expresses deep longing for a freer, more tolerant world, a world in which all human beings will have the opportunity to live their most authentic lives; a world where all types of love will be celebrated.
"There's a place for us, somewhere a place for us. Peace and quiet and open air wait for us somewhere. Somewhere we'll find a new way of living. We'll find a way of forgiving. Somehow, Someday, Somewhere..."
