PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT

INDIANA KIDS LEADING CHANGE
In early 2016, a group of young people in central Indiana began the process of crafting a Climate Resilience and Recovery Resolution. With the help of elected and appointed officials, this intergenerational initiative resulted in Indianapolis becoming the largest city in the country to pass a youth-led resolution addressing climate concerns. The youth continued to advocate to other Indiana cities, who followed suit including Carmel and Lawrence.

There's no time like the present to start planning your 2018 Lights On Afterschool event!
On Thursday, October 25th, we'll come together again to make sure parents, policymakers, and communities understand the impact of afterschool programs in keeping kids safe, inspiring them to learn, and giving families peace of mind.

Last year, more than one million Americans in thousands of communities across the country celebrated Lights On Afterschool.

Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide celebration of everything afterschool programs do for students, families and communities across the country. It is an event not only for recognizing the extraordinary value of these programs, but also for putting a spotlight on the need for more funding-for every child who gets to participate in an afterschool program, there are two waiting to get in.

Get started TODAY by registering your event and checking out the Afterschool Alliance Event Planning Toolkit!

FEDERAL AFTERSCHOOL POLICY UPDATES FROM the Afterschool Alliance:

- In mid-August the full Senate is expected to debate and pass a Labor, Health and Human Services, Education (LHHS) spending bill for the first time since 2007.
- Additionally, TWO new bills have recently been introduced that would support the work of local afterschool and summer learning providers.

For more information on these bills and other afterschool and summer learning related legislation, see the Afterschool Alliance federal legislation tracker: https://afterschoolalliance.rallycongress.net/bills

Camptown Wilderness Adventure Club
Camptown has one Wilderness Adventure Club available for the 2018-2019 school year. There is no charge to the school or the students for this program.
