Dear Parents,
I recently attended an all day workshop called the School Safety Forum. It was intended to give schools and law enforcement tools and techniques for stopping school violence and ensuring best practices and procedures during emergency situations.
Although Crossroads is a very small school and many safety solutions presented at this forum are designed to accommodate much larger campuses and student populations, I did take away some good information. There were excellent speakers and breakout sessions that gave me ideas for some “scaled down” solutions for our campus. Things like magnetic locks on doors, keypad only entry on gates and other areas as well as how to properly relay pertinent information to police and medical personnel during an emergency situation.
Going forward, you may notice changes to campus doors and gates regarding access and functionality. We will keep everyone informed of the improvements we are making as they are completed and how they may directly, or indirectly, impact you and your child.
I believe that children can learn more and be successful if they attend a safe, orderly, supportive school environment. I feel like it is important for us to stay informed and aware of the latest products and procedures where campus safety is concerned and all of us here at Crossroads are committed to providing the safest and most caring campus possible for your child. Please don’t hesitate to call or email me with campus safety ideas, suggestions or concerns. I welcome your input!
