Jim Harrelson Memorial Whiskey to fund a scholarship
On Monday August 20th, The Californian Artisanal Distiller's Guild (CADG) launched a project to create a memorial fund to honor former CADG Director Jim Harrelson. They are creating a peated single malt whiskey with proceeds going to launch the fund, which will be used to support interns in distilling. The wash that was mashed Monday will be distilled Friday and Saturday, August 24-25, at Sutherland Distilling Co. More info.

Control State Results for July 2018
During July 2018 nine-liter spirits case sales in the control states grew 4.6% over same period sales last year. July's rather robust sales growth is, at least partially, attributable to last July's weak comp (0.5%) and an anomaly in a control state's July 2018 sales reporting calendar. Read more.

It has been a big year for the guys at Tempe-based Arizona Distilling Co., the second-oldest craft distillery in the state. In May, after a 32-month transition period, the distillery officially debuted its new tasting room and cocktail lounge inside a 5,000-square-foot space located at 601 West University Drive.
