The Dana Point Chamber of Commerce nominating committee recently met to review the candidates nominated for the 2018 Chamber Board of Directors. Nine individuals are hereby recommended by the nominating committee to fill the nine open seats on the Board of Directors which will commence January 1, 2018.

Under Bylaw Section 4.06, additional names of candidates for the Board of Directors may be nominated by petition bearing the genuine signatures of at least 10 percent of the business members in good standing. Such petition shall be filed with the Executive Director within 10 business days after notice has been given to the membership of the names of those nominated, who shall immediately deliver same to the chair of the nominating committee. The determination of the nominating committee as to the legality of any petition shall be final.

According to Bylaw Section 4.07, if no petition is filed within the period designated in Bylaw Section 4.06, nominations shall be closed, and the Board of Directors nominated slate shall be declared elected at the next regular Board of Directors meeting. If a legal petition or petitions present additional candidates, the names of all candidates shall be arranged on a ballot by random draw and sent to each business member in good standing with further instructions.

The organizational meeting of the new Board of Directors will be held with the retiring Board at the December Board of Directors meeting. The new board members term will commence January 1, 2018 for two (2) consecutive years.

NOMINATIONS BY PETITION MUST BE RECEIVED BY NOVEMBER 14, 2017

The nominating committee is served by board members, Ms. Rachel O'Neill-Cusey, Ms. Patti Short and Mr. Jay Styles.

We look forward to receiving your input.

The surfers who take the kids out are all hand-picked by Izzy. Some are current pros or former players, but all of them have the heart it takes to be safe and rip up the perfect waves.

Each year, Surfers Healing hosts more than 5,000 children for one-day surf camps in California, Florida, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Rhode Island, and Hawaii, as well as other locations such as Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico.
