Your Farming Family - Thanks YOU
Greetings!

Good Day,
Amanda normally does the newsletter. She has taken Madelyn and went to spend a week with family. Leaving me in charge. Yup.
The stand will be operating produce hours. However the flower shop phone number will go to VM. If you need to reach us this week please EMAIL ME: info@thefarmwoodbury.com (i'll check periodically) With that said let's get to it. Please give this email a quick read; we have been trying to keep it short lately.
Thanks!
Mike

Welcome to week 10 of our 2018 Summer CSA Program! We are now half way through our summer CSA where did that go? Don't forget to join our 10 Week Fall-Winter Program Online or In-store.

Pick up is at Woodbury Floral Designs- ON YOUR PICK UP DAY - We hope ya'll know your pickup day it is now that we are week 10 ;-)

15 Hollow Rd., Woodbury CT. If you can not make it in time to pick up, please notify us at 203.266.9149 so we can make other arrangements.

We can NOT make you a basket if you do not call. That would mean we'd be harvesting your basket and giving to the food bank and then using produce again which was to be sold. Unfair to the CSA member's that understand this simple rule.
ALL baskets not picked up on your pick up day will be donated to the Woodbury Food Bank.

PLEASE bring back the empty basket from last week in exchange for another full one. We are trying to keep a closer eye on the baskets this year as the expense of them really adds up (we spend over ($3,500 on baskets).

If there is anything in your basket you or your family doesn't eat, we do offer a swap table where you can exchange 1 item for another- if it is in the swap table. We do however encourage everyone to try things at least once; after all that is the fun part of a CSA too.

We like to thank all our members by offering a 10% discount on anything in the shop! Whether it's more produce, our farm raised meat, sauce, syrup, spices, or flowers and gifts- it's our way of showing you our appreciation for your patronage.

Fall/Winter CSA is OPEN
It may be summer still, but we are deep into the planning stages of the Fall/Winter CSA program. Enjoying the summer session? Then let our family feed yours for the rest of the year!
Our fall/winter program begins immediately after the summer program ends.

Your support of our program is allowing our family to do BIG things this year. I can't quite tell you what that it yet... but it will be a game changer for our family farm and our community.

Farm Fresh News
WOW THAT'S A LOT OF RAIN!
Not sure this rain will ever end. It is really hitting us now with certain crops like a field of sweet corn worth over $20,000 succumbing to the flooding. These things can not be stopped when dealing with mother nature. It sure does however hit your farm in the piggy bank, not to mention all that labor and wasted time in retrospect..but who knew!?

Luckily! We do have two more corn fields that will make it. Our goal is always to work around mother nature's obstacles. Your support is appreciated.
What's in the Basket!
Share for 2:
The Farm's Sweet Corn
Red Tomatoes
Bella or Italian Eggplant
Green Bell Peppers
Lebanese Zucchini
Candy Strip Beets - No greens

Family Size:
Same, larger quantities

Fruit Shares:
Blackberries, Peaches, Apples and Plums

Care for this weeks ingredients:

Squash, Peppers, Beets and Eggplant: Store in fridge- best if used within 3 days, will last 5-7 days in crisper.

Tomatoes: DO NOT REFRIGERATE. If you would like them riper, simply leave them on a windowsill, otherwise leave them on your kitchen counter. Will last up to a week, depending on ripeness.

Corn: Store in fridge- use as soon as possible for optimum freshness. Picked corn starts loosing it's sugar content almost immediately.
