ALRE Ground Breaking Ceremony
The Mayor and Council participated in the ground breaking ceremony for the ALRE Properties development at the former ACAN property on Tuesday, July 31. The redevelopment of this property is an important milestone for the Town as it renews this site as a major business area for Paradise, bringing significant economic benefits to the Town and region.

ALRE Properties is undertaking the retail development at the site and once completed, the 25 million dollar project will include seven buildings. To date, ALRE has confirmed tenants for the retail development to be Shoppers Drug Mart, Starbucks, East Side Mario's, and Dollarama, with more to be announced. An estimated 200 full and part-time jobs are expected as a result of the development. The projected completion timeline for the project is December 2018, with first stores opening in the spring of 2019.  To see more pictures from the Ground Breaking Ceremony, visit our Facebook gallery .
Jays Care Foundation Donates to Paradise Minor Baseball
Councillors Paul Dinn and Sterling Willis stopped by the Blue Jays Academy on Thursday, August 9 as the Jays Care Foundation presented an investment of $150,000 to Paradise Minor Baseball for field upgrades at Peter Barry Duff Field. The Jays Care Foundation provides investments to improve quality of play for children and youth across the country. This investment is part of their 2018 Field Of Dreams grant, and will be put towards new lighting for the field.
Accessory Building Application Process
If you are looking to build a shed or accessory building, fence, pool, retaining wall, or patio on your property you will need to complete an Accessory Building / Accessory Uses Application. The Town website has the necessary applications and information you will need to get started.

For retaining walls, if it has a proposed height greater than 48 inches, it must be designed by an engineer, and the design, along with the engineer's signature and stamp, must be submitted with the application. Full details are available in the Fence and Retaining Wall Regulations, 2013.

Once your application is submitted to the Town, staff will review it and the associated plans to ensure they comply with applicable laws and regulations. Keep in mind that there are a few different things that need to be provided to receive approval to begin work, including a neatly scaled drawing. If you have any questions on this process, or would like assistance completing an application, please contact Planning and Protective Services at 709-782-1400 or email.
Recycling Reminder
Recycling reduces the amount of waste going into the wheeled cart and into landfills. It's easy to recycle in the Town of Paradise, simply sort your paper products into one blue bag and your containers in another. Cardboard can be placed in a blue bag or broken down and bundled. Don't forget to rinse containers before recycling them (milk cartons belong in your container bag).

See-through blue bags must be used for recycling only. Place recyclables loosely in the blue bag. On collection days, place your bags of recyclables at the curb, uncovered, and outside your wheeled garbage cart. Let's all do our part and recycle! For information, visit the website.
