These six educational clinics will offer attendees the  opportunity to study and learn from  industry leaders in the equestrian world, including an Olympic Games Show Jumping course designer, renowned Hunter and Equitation judges, Sport Horse Conformation specialists as well as internationally sought-after horse trainers from the United States, South America and Europe.

Clinician Jose Alejos teaches and trains during Young Horse Trainer School.

"We're so excited to have world-renowned clinicians once again travel to Reno to share their knowledge and educate horses and horsemen," said Julie Winkel, Maplewood CEO. "As the host and a clinician, I always learn a tremendous amount from the clinicians as well as the other participants. September is a very special month for us here at Maplewood, and we open our doors to the horse community and those who are interested in learning more about all aspects of the horse industry."

The Sport Horse Conformation Seminar, Course Design School and Judge's School are approved by the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) and United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) for continuing education and licensing for their judges and designers, and the Trainer Certification Program Clinic is approved for those seeking to achieve certification or maintain their current certification through the USHJA

The fifth annual  Young Horse Trainer School  has now become a sought-after educational opportunity for horse trainers wishing to learn more about training young horses. From halter breaking foals to backing 3-year-olds to preparing sport horse prospects for the International Jumper Futurity and show ring, the school offers a variety of educational opportunities, both in the classroom and in the arenas, to expand your horsemanship and training knowledge.

"Our 2018 clinician line-up includes  Jose Alejos Linda Allen  and guest clinician from Belgium, Benny Vandervaeren," said Winkel. "This week never disappoints!"

For the second consecutive year, the Sport Horse Conformation Seminar will feature veterinarians Danny Marks (a Show Jumping Hall of Fame member) and Chrysann Collatos, as well as conformation expert and judge Julie Winkel. They will analyze and discuss the conformation and athletic attributes of a variety of sport horses, from young prospects to dressage horses, show hunters and Grand Prix jumping veterans. In addition, the clinic will include educational seminars, classroom instruction and live judging practice.

Linda Allen instructs during the Course Design School.

The Course Design School, with clinicians Linda Allen and Nancy Wallis, is open to riders, trainers and anyone interested in understanding the nuts and bolts of quality course construction to improve your horses and your competitive edge. The school will also cover practical advice for walking Jumper and Equitation courses. Analysis and discussion will take place after observing horses jumping the various tracks and lines designed by participants.

While covering material used in the USHJA Licensed Officials Judge's Clinics, the Reno Judge's School curriculum will also include materials from the comprehensive Arabian Horse Association Judges & Exhibitors School, classroom instruction, roundtable discussion and live judging practice.  This school, led by USEF R-rated judges Fran Dotoli and Julie Winkel, is open to judges, riders, trainers and anyone interested in learning more about judging and the processes involved, from ethics and integrity to bookkeeping, rules and licensing.

The USHJA Trainer Certification Program Clinic is for trainers wishing to become certified or renew their certification. The clinic, taught by Juliana Zunde and Julie Winkel, also offers riding spaces for those who would like to improve their skills under the tutelage of two well-respected and knowledgeable educators.

Clinician Juliana Zunde teaches the USHJA TCP Clinic.

"The TCP Clinic is a wonderful opportunity for professionals of all levels to expand their teaching and training skills and for riding participants to experience a unique clinic atmosphere that focuses on the learning process," said Winkel. "It's really a win-win for everyone, and we all finish the clinic with more knowledge and understanding than when we arrived. It's very energizing for our professionals in the sport, and the roundtable discussions are especially beneficial to share ideas and experiences."

All of the Maplewood Super September Educational Clinics are open to the public, including trainers, coaches, parents, riders, owners and any interested parties who wish to learn more about the Hunter/Jumper sport and horses and horsemanship in general.

"We really hope the local horse community will embrace this unique opportunity to learn more about horses and our sport from experts in their respective fields," added Winkel. "We have clinicians traveling from Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Belgium, Mexico and South America. There's really nothing else like it in the country, and we're so fortunate to have this experience here in Reno."
