Big Dig Day: Success!

Thank you to all who donated to Ventura County 4-H on Big Dig Day! Ventura County was in the top 5 to raise the most money in California!
The Big Dig Day fundraising campaign was hosted by California 4-H Foundation. The good people there gave an extra $250 to our county because we were one of the first to secure a $500 donation. (Thank you, wonderful anonymous donor who gave us $500!) They are also sending us 50 custom seed packets because we raised more than $500. Finally, because Flat Happy photos were submitted by Teagan and Brenna of Somis 4-H, they will be sending gift cards to give to our contest winners!
Ventura is a pilot county for the 4-H debit card!

The other 3 pilot counties are Orange, Tehama and Siskiyou. Ventura County is currently in the lead with 19 people pre-registered for the new 4-H debit card!

Because every 4-H'er loves a good contest, the club with the most sign-ups* by June 30 will be awarded $300! Just text 'Ventura4h' to 555-888 to get a link to the interest form, or find it online by clicking the button below. The 4-H debit card gives 1% of all purchases to Ventura County 4-H and it's re-loadable, so it's more secure than a regular debit card which is connected to your bank. What an easy way to raise money for our county!

*Clubs with the highest percentage of people who fill out the online interest form. The interest form does not automatically sign you up for the 4-H debit card, but you will be notified when the cards are available.
Seniors, We Are So Proud!

Do you have a 4-H'er graduating from high school in your household? If so, we would love to highlight them on our Ventura County 4-H Instagram and Facebook pages!

If you have a senior, we would like:
  • Senior's photo (maybe dressed in their graduation gown)
  • Senior's name
  • Senior's high school and future plans
  • Senior's 4-H Club name
  • Something interesting about what they learned/did in 4-H or what they gained from 4-H.
Please send to venturacounty4h@ucanr.edu THANKS!
Virtual 4-H Election Resource

Sonoma County 4-H'ers Mia and Millie developed a Virtual 4-H Election site and process as their Emerald Star Project. They are offering to help other clubs who are interested also! Please check out this blog post about them and their project.

If your club wants to use their idea to have your own virtual election, check out  the4Helectionproject.com  Fill out the online request form for assistance in setting up your club's virtual election.

Continuing to find alternative options while managing these and other 4-H Unit obligations is important during this time. Please refer to the  Virtual 4-H Unit Management Solutions during COVID-19  handout located on the  Virtual Toolbox  in  California 4-H at Home  for additional guidance on holding virtual 4-H unit elections.
