MESSAGE FROM THE CITY MANAGER
Welcome to the August edition of Your City @ Work, a monthly online newsletter. Our goal is to keep you up to date on pending issues and actions before the City Commission so that you can participate in the decision making process. We hope you will find this form of communication educational and informative. 

Join us for a special Commission Workshop on August 22 @ 6 pm at City Hall where Development incentives, Impact fees and the Land Dedication Ordinance will be discussed.

CITY NEWS
SHOREBIRD UPDATE
Honeymoon Island Environmental Specialist gives an update on the shorebirds on Three Rooker Island and the Loggerhead turtle nests on the surrounding islands.

DOWNTOWN PARKING UPDATE
Through August 4, the City of Dunedin asks you to visit the lobby of the Dunedin Public Library to test the four pay stations that have been provided. A comment card will be provided where you can rate each machine based on your experience. Your feedback is very important to us and will be part of the final decision making process on what pay station works best for Dunedin.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Complete a disaster plan before the chaos of an approaching storm to be sure you have time to do it right. Pack your Emergency Survival Kits before June 1st to be sure you have what you need. Organize important papers so you can grab them quickly.

DUNEDIN FIRE RESCUE TRAINING
Fire Departments from around Pinellas County and the Dunedin Fire Department worked together engage in water safety and rescue training. Watch the interview on the water with Erich Thiemann, Division Chief of Training for the Dunedin Fire Department.


BUDGET UPDATE
The Dunedin City Commission will vote to approve and adopt the Fiscal Year 2019 at two upcoming City Commission meetings on September 6 and 20. Commission meetings are held on Thursdays at 6pm at Dunedin City Hall.

SKINNER BOULEVARD UPDATE
On July 16 the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) held a public meeting on the Skinner Boulevard proposed enhancements. The City was recently awarded a $100,000 planning grant from Forward Pinellas to explore opportunities to address a complete streets strategy for Skinner Blvd. Complete streets involves all aspects of streets, with the overriding goal of improving safety. Suggested ideas included golf cart crossing, improvements for the Bass Blvd intersection, traffic circles, lane reduction and crosswalks. A second public meeting will be held in the next year.

PURPLE HEART PARK
On Tuesday, August 7 join the City of Dunedin in a special ceremony where we will honor and pay tribute to all Veterans, with a special focus on Purple Heart recipients who have earned the military tribute by virtue of their bravery and sacrifice.
The ceremony will start at 6:30pm and is free to attend. Purple Heart Park is located at, 300 Main St.

PARKS & REC DEBUTS LIVEWELL DUNEDIN

LiveWell Dunedin encourages people of all ages to “live well” physically, mentally and socially. There are a variety of programs that can help you enhance your lifestyle and improve your overall well-being.

DUNEDIN PUBLIC LIBRARY DELIVERS

The Library's Homebound Delivery program is for Dunedin residents who are confined to their residence due to health and/or mobility issues. Delivers are once a month on Wednesday mornings.

DUNEDIN HISTORY MUSEUM REOPENS

The Dunedin History Museum reopened to the public on July 24. Dunedin residents may visit the Museum for free through the end of October when there will be an official grand opening. Hours are Tue-Sat, 10am-4pm.
