Principal Notes                                                      October 10, 2019

Dear Families,

There are only nine days left until the Souls for Education Walk at Mount Mary University.  It is not too late - you can still register. In celebration of the 175th anniversary of the Archdiocese, there will be a scavenger hunt using fun historical facts about the high schools. Click here for details.   When you arrive at Mount Mary that day look for the signs that say Deanery 4. We will be there with a large SMV flag. Please pray for good weather for the day!

It's never too early to think about high school.  The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has shared some wonderful information with us about our Catholic High Schools.  Please click here to learn more.

October is the Month of the Rosary to the Blessed Virgin Mary:
All School Rosary Prayer Service to Honor Our Mother Mary
Please join us on Wednesday, Oct. 30th, 1:45 pm, weather permitting, in the school parking lot for our annual all-school rosary prayer service. If inclement weather, the rosary prayer service will be moved inside the church. We encourage our students to bring their own rosary to use at this prayer service. We hope you will join us for this special prayer to our Blessed Mother Mary.  Please pray the rosary at home with your family, especially this month. Rosary praying information can be found at http://www.usccb.org/prayer-and-worship/prayers-and-devotions/rosaries/how-to-pray-the-rosary.cfm

Just a reminder, there is no school tomorrow.  The teachers will be here working on professional development. Enjoy the long weekend!

*Make it a daily habit to overwhelm someone with your kindness!

Office Notes

Just a few reminders from the school office. If your child is ill please call or email the school office to let us know.  As the weather gets colder, please make sure your child's name is on every item of clothing.  This will help us make sure that your child's North Face coat gets back to your child. Immunizations are due soon please make sure that they are turned into the school office by Oct. 25.

You can find Kindness throughout SMV in many different ways.
Positively SMV

This is the name and the face behind the emails- Mrs. Michelle Akel!  Michelle is the volunteer coordinator for Home and School this year.  As such, you probably have seen emails from her asking for help with various events at school.  Throughout the year you will see Michelle's posts in virtual backpack as well.  Some of the volunteer commitments require significant time; however, most often she is looking for an hour or two of your time to help before, during or after an event.  In her current role, Michelle lives by the words, "Many hands make light work".  Thank YOU Michelle for sharing your time and talent with SMV to make so many events a reality!
