Dear Members:

Today, the City of Long Beach ordered a curfew effective at 1 p.m. in business districts and citywide at 4 p.m. today, June 1, for the safety of the public.

The press release details curfew regulation, what business districts are impacted and who is exempt.

No persons shall travel or be upon the public streets, avenues, alleys, parks, ways or any other public place in the City of Long Beach for the duration of this curfew, except as expressly authorized. For the purposes of this curfew regulation, “travel” shall include, but is not limited to, traveling on foot, bicycle, skateboard, scooter, motorcycle, or automobile or any other means of conveyance.

Curfews are hereby ordered as follows, effective immediately:

A.   From 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. within the City of Long Beach’s jurisdictional boundaries;
B.   From 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. within the boundaries of the following Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) or other business districts of the City of Long Beach as follows:

o  Belmont Shore PBIA/ Naples
o  Bixby Knolls PBIA
o  Downtown Long Beach PBIA
o  Downtown Long Beach PBID
o  East Anaheim PBIA 1
o  Fourth Street PBIA
o  Long Beach Tourism BIA – Airport
o  Magnolia Industrial Group PBID
o  Midtown PBID
o  Uptown PBID
o  The Pike
o  Long Beach Towne Center
o  Douglas Park Business District
o  2 nd & PCH

These curfews shall extend and/or be in addition to any prior curfew regulation(s) issued during this local emergency.

Law enforcement personnel, firefighting personnel, emergency health care providers, emergency medical personnel, civilians engaged in police or emergency work, individuals seeking emergency care, individuals traveling to and from their place of employment and representatives of the media are exempt. Securing and actively cleaning up businesses are exempt.
