FCC Continues Its Vital Work!

While Covid-19 required us to adjust our processes in the Emergency Shelter and how our programs were delivered, FCC continues to work towards preventing and interrupting cycles of violence in innovative and effective ways! As our fiscal year comes to a close, Amie Post, FCC's Executive Director, highlights the Center's work as well as our goals for a more equitable and safe future. Message from Amie Post

Success Story

After her partner fired a gun at her and her children, Ms. D, 3 months pregnant with two other children, fled to Maryland to be closer to extended family. Being closer to family helped, but Ms. D still needed safe shelter and began her stay with FCC in February 2020. Upon arrival Ms. D worked with Care Coordinator LaQuisha Anderson and Case Manager Brandi Alexander to identify pathways forward. Throughout her time at FCC Ms. D faced many challenges including complications with her pregnancy and the death of her uncle. COVID-19 made the process of finding a safe home more complex and time consuming. No matter what she faced, Ms. D kept a positive attitude, welcomed a healthy new baby and moved into a safe home in early June. Ms. D will remain in contact with FCC for additional support and assistance. We are so grateful for our partnerships with Heaven on Earth and Baltimore County Department of Social Services that allowed for Ms. D to move toward her goals of safe and stable housing!

Foundations, businesses and donations from Giving Tuesday have helped FCC address the response and needs of the organization during Covid-19.

Thanks to the Baltimore Community Foundation, FCC was able to seek help from a variety of local foundations. The Baltimore Community Foundation, the Bernard Family Foundation and the Weinberg Foundation joined to support the additional costs FCC incurred during the sheltering in place requirements as well as the enhanced cleaning procedures.

The mission of the RagingBull Charitable Giving program is to pay forward a portion of stock market trading profits realized by RagingBull’s trading educators to charities. RagingBull chose FCC as one of its charities for the Spring of 2020. Thanks to their very generous donation, FCC has been able to support our essential workers and continue our community engagement even while physically distanced. RagingBull Charitable Giving

Giving Tuesday, raised nearly $2000 and also contributed to FCC's ability to be flexible in this new work environment. All of our counseling sessions and New Behavior programs have moved successfully to remote sessions either by phone or video!

Enhanced Children's Programming - The Future of Strong Communities.

Grant from Medstar Franklin Square Children's Community Fund

FCC is enhancing our children's program thanks to the support of Medstar Franklin Square. We are expanding our nutrition, yoga, art programs and parent-child coaching in the Emergency Shelter so the children have opportunities for growth and normalcy.
