Sept. 14th, 2019

Pathways To Peace, LiveaMoment, and the Global Movement on a Culture of Peace hosted the first annual all-day event to recognize, inspire, and ignite the next generation of peacebuilders!

The Church of the Covenant, across from the United Nations, was home to this unique and dynamic event. Big kudos go out to Rev. Edmonds, Barbara, and Elizabeth for swinging wide open the doors of the Church, welcoming all. The youth-led event engaged mind, body, and spirit in honor of the 20th Anniversary of the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace took place on September 13th, The Culture of Peace: "Empowering and Transforming Humanity." "Empowered Youth Transforming Humanity" followed on September 14th.

"The recent event at Church of Covenant was wonderful, all of it!!!  It was deep and special. Much universe energy for great world good was released.  I saw and felt it. With highest friendship and respect." - Grandmother Anele

Beginning with a Earth and Sky Ceremony at the Isaiah Wall at 8:45 am and concluding at 9:00 pm with an Open Mic session, young peacebuilders were front and center, as activists, presenters, and performers, sharing perspectives to shape, inform, and advance the next iteration of a Culture of Peace.

"The event, Empowered Youth Transforming Humanity has challenged, inspired, and equipped all with the networking tools to become peace makers around nations. It has uplifted me to do the most diligent work I can to bring peace into communities." - Betsabe Reyna, PTP UN Youth Representative

"The event entailed very inspirational individual and group efforts to create a chain of events of peace.  The space was welcoming, positive, and full of new knowledge & skills. We were able to share ideas, influence others, and gain knowledge, while networking with other individuals and business's. Moreover, there isn't a push for perfectionism or unrealistic expectations, just people getting together with big picture common goals. I left very inspired, grounded, and happy." Jacqueline Ngando, Ark for Peace

There are so many people to thank and so much wisdom to share! Stay tuned to our next newsletter and some additional detail about "Empowered Youth Transforming Humanity!

Celebrating Peace Day and the Peace Wave through the Universal Language of Music!

Everyone is invited to join a global
Peace Day singalong and dance party to Every Man, Woman, and Child, a musical presentation by Merrill Collins of Spiraling Music. Every Man, Woman, and Child, is a musical celebration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. An a capella version of this beautiful song, which was originally recorded when Merrill was composer-in-residence at Pathways to Peace in the 1980s, won a Global Peace Song Award last year. This year, new versions of the song are being recorded to engage every audience, from a hip hop reading of the articles to a global meditation, to a West African Highlife! Everyone and all communities are encouraged to use Every Man, Woman, and Child to create their own events and dance videos ! Videos and photos will be shared and celebrated on Peace Day on September 21st, 2019. Sign up now to start singing and dancing!

About Pathways To Peace and the Culture of Peace Initiative

Incorporated in 1983, Pathways to Peace (PTP) is an international organization dedicated to making Peace a practical reality in our world today. PTP is an official Peace Messenger of the United Nations and has Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. PTP works locally and globally, inter-generationally and multi-culturally, to promote Peacebuilding, Peace education, and to collaborate with other organizations in initiatives that help further the Culture of Peace Initiative (CPI).

With participants from around the world, the Culture of Peace Initiative (CPI) is a cooperative local-global Peacebuilding Initiative uniting the strengths of organizations, networks, projects and people to realize a Culture of Peace for the Common Good. The CPI also serves as a vehicle for bringing to light many previously unseen and unheard Peacebuilders working along diverse paths, who are embodying the emerging Culture of Peace within Humanity.  The annual highlight of the Culture of Peace Initiative is the International Day of Peace, which provides an opportunity for individuals, organizations, and nations to work together, on a shared date, to create practical acts of Peace with a year-round impact.
