Coding, Robotics, Programming, and Design. We cannot wait to open our district's first Computer Science Immersion Academy at Heritage Elementary School on August 29. Powered by Code to the Future, the nation's leader in computer science skills, students will explore emerging technologies in new and exciting ways!
CHOOSE GGUSD! Must-Watch Video about GGUSD's Supportive Culture

Each week until school starts, we are releasing short "Choose GGUSD" videos that help illustrate why families choose to send their children to GGUSD schools. In this video, we feature our district's caring and supportive culture across its 67 schools with socio-emotional support for all students, mental health resources, and opportunities for all students to get involved!
SAFETY FIRST!

It's almost time for school and our mechanics have been hard at work making sure all 121 buses are ready for the first day of school on August 29.

Our hardworking mechanics and transportation team are installing the new Child Check-Mate Safety Alert system which is required under a new law in California to help ensure that bus drivers check every seat confirming all students have exited the bus at the end of each route.

We are grateful for our talented group of mechanics who work hard to ensure our students have a safe ride to and from school each day! #GGUSDSummerSuccess
CAREER-READY!
More than 40 of our dedicated Career and Technical Education (CTE) students spent their summers in the workforce through GGUSD and OC United Way's Youth Career Connections Internship Program. Last week, we celebrated their hard work at the Internship Culmination Celebration. Their employers shared that their GGUSD interns came in early, stayed late, brought fresh ideas and made meaningful contributions to the workplace. We love that our incoming seniors spent their summers learning professional communication, priority management, career and leadership skills at a wide range of industries including architecture, computer science, engineering, medical, law, non-profit work, and more. Thank you to GGUSD Board of Education Vice President Lan Nguyen and Trustee Teri Rocco for attending the celebration event to show your support for our students!
ALL ABOUT AVID!

GGUSD administrators and educators attended AVID Summer Institute last month at the Anaheim Convention Center to collaborate on best practices that will translate into student success in the classroom. GGUSD has received numerous awards for our exceptional implementation of AVID strategies at our intermediate and high schools which teach students important scholarly habits. This year, we are expanding the program to bring important AVID strategies and resources to sixth grade students at many of our elementary schools across the district. #GGUSDSummerSuccess
SUMMER IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS : School may be out for the summer but great work is being done at our facilities while the students are away, including the addition of tennis courts at Garden Grove High School! These are replacing the old courts which were reconfigured into space for the Michael A. Monsoor Memorial Stadium last year. We are grateful to our Facilities and Maintenance and Operations teams for working hard to ensure our students have top-notch facilities!  #GGUSDSummerSuccess
