The Council has decided not to reopen the church for in-person services or meetings until June 28 at the earliest.  You should have received a survey on June 1 asking for your opinion on what a safe reopening would look like. The Council will use the results of that survey to decide how to proceed.  You will be kept advised and perhaps consulted again on when and how to reopen.

 

In the meantime, congregational meetings, those that require a vote by the church membership and that must be announced two weeks in advance, will be done by email. You have already received two such emails.   

 

The first was on renovation of the kitchen in the Heritage Room, made necessary by a plumbing problem. That vote was required because the cost will exceed $10,000, and church bylaws require that any such expenditure must be approved by the congregation. The two-week deadline for voting on that proposition was May 28 and the renovation has been approved.  

 

Sometime after the June 28 Council meeting you will receive another email giving you two weeks to vote on the Council's recommendation on how to fix the moisture problem in the lower level. This, too, will exceed $10,000. The vote on the kitchen was presented first because Colonial Women had already initiated the project with their own funds and because of the plumbing issue that had to be fixed before the project could be completed.   

 

Another email, which is about the Annual Meeting scheduled for June 14, was sent to you on May 28.  It has a link to the Annual Report to the congregation from the Church Council and a list of members recommended to serve on the Council effective June 14. There is another link in that email asking you to vote no later than June 14 on whether to approve the new Council members.
