Dear  Lovejoy Families,

I hope that this email finds you doing well.  This week, I had an opportunity to teach in a 2nd grade classroom, and I was so impressed with our students.  They asked insightful questions, accepted every challenge that I gave them, and worked incredibly hard. This was a great reminder of how blessed I am to be a part of this campus.  Thank you for sharing your precious children with us each and every day. Next week, will be our first community event hosted by PTA. I hope that you will plan on joining us on Thursday, September 26th from 6:00 -7:00 pm.  It is a fun event where you can enjoy FREE ice cream, shop at our book fair, and participate in the drawing for prizes.

If you have not done so already, you still have time to donate to the Foundation though North Texas Giving Day.  Please see details below in the Community News section.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

All My Best,
Wendy Craft

NEW! Gaga Pit: Volunteers Needed
Lovejoy Elementary has been given a Gaga Pit for the playground! The pit is being delivered this week but we are in need of some help installing it and getting it ready for the kids to play.  If you are interested in helping on Saturday, September 28th, please click here . For questions, please contact Brad Havens at 214.356.4057.

NEW! Leopard Live & Spirit Day
On Friday, September 27th, we will have our first Leopard Live at 8:00 am.  This is an opportunity for us to celebrate our students who model the character trait for the current six weeks and to highlight our Leopard Leaders. It is a great morning of celebration! We hope that you will be able to join us.  Make sure to wear your new Lovejoy Elementary shirt! The shirts will be sent home next week.

NEW! Visitors/Volunteers
With our Raptor system which checks in visitors and students, the first time that you check in requires a little longer process.  Therefore, if you have a few extra minutes, please come by the school and check in, as it will make the process go faster when you need to check your child out and are in a time crunch.

NEW! Check In Procedure for Big Events
For our major events, like Leopard Live or class parties, we will have a different check in/out system. If you are a cleared volunteer that has gone through the Lovejoy ISD volunteer process, and you have requested a FAST PASS, you will be directed to our Priority Check-In Station. You will be asked to present your driver's license and will then be checked against our master list and receive a visitor badge.  At the end of the event, you will need to exit through the office and check out in the same manner. If you have not completed the volunteer process, you will have to check in through our Raptor System with your driver's license. We encourage you to plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time for this process. The safety of our students and staff is our first priority. Thank you in advance for your patience with our new check in/out system. If you would like to be a part of the Priority Check in/out system, please click here to fill out the volunteer application.

NEW! Talent Show: Send a Message with your Talent!
It's time to start thinking of planning and preparing for Lovejoy's annual talent show! This year we are excited to showcase our students' talents as a culmination of our Red Ribbon Week celebration on Thursday, October 31st. Since we know that in order to master a talent or skill, you need a healthy, drug free mind and body, we can't think of a better way to end the week than to show what our students can do when they commit to living a healthy drug free life! Our theme for Red Ribbon Week is, "Send a Message: One Choice, One Life, Be Drug Free!" and to go along with that theme, our talent show will be called the "Send a Message with your Talent" We are requesting that all acts relate to or align with that theme and demonstrate how students can send a healthy message through performing special talents and skills at their highest level. Talent Show registration will be completed online this year. Please click here to access the Talent Show rules and guidelines, and to access the online registration form .   Music may be emailed to Wendy Hebert or submitted to this  Google Drive .   Please note, School facilities (classrooms, gym, stage, Leopard Spot, Gathering Spot, etc.) will not be available for Talent Show practice.  All practices and rehearsals must be held off campus. We can't wait to see what incredible talents our little leopards bring to our Healthy Selfie Showcase!
