Announcing the 2018 essay contest winners: 6 nursing & medical students
More than 200 medical and nursing students reflected on this quote and penned an essay for this year's Hope Babette Tang Humanism in Healthcare Essay Contest. This is the first year that the nearly 20-year contest has expanded from medical students to include nursing students. Six winning essays were selected. First place went to Antoinette Esce , a third-year medical student at University of Rochester, and Ashley Edgar , a first-year nursing student at University of Texas Medical Branch. Grab a box of tissues and read this year's six winning essays.
Now open: AFMC-Gold Humanism Award and Lecture call for nominees
The Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) and The Arnold P. Gold Foundation for Humanistic Healthcare Canada are seeking nominees for the inaugural AFMC-Gold Humanism Award and Lecture, which will be presented at the Canadian Conference on Medical Education in April 2019. Open to healthcare professionals in Canada, the award honors the ideals of humanism and patient-centered care within the Canadian healthcare community. Learn more about the award and submit a nomination.

Golden Glimmers are a new way for GHHS members to express themselves, and at the same time, stay connected with their GHHS peers! We will periodically be requesting themed submissions in the form of art, writing, photos, and more. The first Golden Glimmers submission period is now open: Offer your advice for medical school in the form of a haiku.
