Elementary Chapel
Elementary students learn more about our theme… Reflect the Son! In this Monday’s TK through 5th grade chapel, Mrs. Harrison shared that the only way we will reflect Jesus is if we keep our eyes on Him and our ears tuned to His voice. This was illustrated through a fun game with a few elementary teachers who were tasked with painting a specific image of a butterfly on their cheek. One teacher, Mrs. Petrarca, was provided a mirror and a picture of a butterfly so that image created on her cheek was the right and true image. The next teacher, Mrs. Majkrzak, did not see the picture or have the mirror but could only look at Mrs. Petrarca to try to create the image. You can probably imagine that butterfly image created on her cheek was not the right and true image. And the hardest one of all? Ms. Kish had the toughest job because all she had was three students who were tasked to describe what they thought the image should look like. It’s probably no surprise that Ms. Kish’s attempt didn’t really turn out to be much of a butterfly at all.

Mrs. Harrison then connected that game to our theme and shared with students that the only way we, as Jesus followers, can Reflect the Son is if we look to Jesus, watch Jesus, learn about Jesus, and listen to Him and only Him. If we do that, then the right and true image of Jesus will be created in us and we will Reflect the Son.

Share2Wear
Our first Share2Wear of the year is upon us! Share2Wear days provide opportunities for our middle school students to practically and tangibly make a difference in our community, while getting to participate in a fun themed dress day! For our Share2Wear days, as long as a student “shares” the selected item, they get to “wear” the clothes related to the themed dress day! Our “share” days will be on Tuesdays and our “wear” days will be on Wednesdays! Here’s what this means for September 24th and 25th.:

On Tuesday, 9/24 , the students will bring in a dollar amount of their choosing (minimum of $1) to “share”. All money collected will go toward the i mmediate need of the people in the Bahamas who are in crisis due to the recent natural disaster that swept through their country.  Click for details.

Students MUST “share” on Tuesday if they want to participate in the “wear” themed dress day on Wednesday. If they forget their share item on Tuesday, they have one last opportunity to bring it Wednesday morning if they want to dress in the theme.

Then, on Wednesday, 9/25 , the students who “shared” will dress in our selected theme for this month… ”SPORTS DAY – Dress like a player or dress like a fan!”  Our students can deck out in attire related to their favorite sport or favorite team! Students must have at least 2 items representing their team or sport to participate. (All school dress code guidelines apply - view themed dress guidelines here .

As always, a trophy will be awarded to the Homeroom with the most participation and the most creative homeroom photo!

We encourage 100% participation in our middle schools students so that we can do our part in caring for those in need in our community and beyond, and seek out ways to Reflect the Son to those in need. This year, the relief fund we'll be giving through is Samaritan's Purse! For more details, visit: Samaritans Purse Hurricane Dorian Relief

Middle School Uniform Policies and Guidelines
In middle school, the first few weeks of school are used as an opportunity to teach and train students regarding all policies and expectations. Part of this training focuses on uniform guidelines and dress code expectations. We have worked to communicate all dress code guidelines to both parents and students over the past few weeks, and given opportunity and time for students to make sure they have the proper school attire. We want to clearly communicate that the expectation is that students will apply this training into practice as they adhere to all uniform and dress code guidelines.

It is also important to communicate that now that students have completed their grade-level meetings with Mrs. Niles, dress guidelines will be fully implemented and enforced. Accountability to all guidelines will be provided to any middle school student who does not meet MCS uniform guidelines.

If you have any questions about uniform or dress code guidelines or how these policies are implemented, follow this link to the MS Uniform Guidelines page , view our MS Uniform Reminders here , or contact Mrs. Niles at kniles@marinerscs.org

It's go time - make sure you are meeting these expectations for the school year!
