I CAN’T BREATHE
First of all, I want to congratulate all the participants in Saturday's March to protest the murder of George Floyd and all the African American men and women who have been executed unjustly by police departments all over this country. I am especially proud of our brave NTD members and board members who participated.

Now comes the real challenge. When the marches end and we go back to our pandemic existence for at least the next year, what are WE going to do to break this cycle of poverty, disinvestment and police brutality that is inflicted on people of color? It is fine to march and protest, but what will make change in these practices is to change those in charge of policies and our government.

We all have that opportunity in November 2020. It is not enough to wring our hands or raise our fists and then sit back and hope that change comes.

We have a dangerous President and he is aided by members of his party. Our liberties and freedoms are at stake and the plight of our disadvantaged citizens gets worse every day.

So I charge each and every one of you, whether you marched or not, to become totally involved - and by that I mean influencing the vote to elect Joe Biden President and to do that we need to help turn some of our neighbor states Blue. There are many opportunities to do this while in the safety and comfort of your own home. Our newsletter has many opportunities to post card or phone bank. For those who can afford it, donations to the candidates are also welcome.

DO NOT LET THIS MOMENTUM LAPSE. Let’s win in November and make the REAL CHANGE that this country is crying out for and needs desperately to save our nation and our soul.

Support U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood’s Re-Election (IL-14th) With Indivisible Evanston’s Weekly Virtual Phone Bank Parties Beginning Thursday, June 25th  

As you know,  Lauren Underwood  is running for re-election to the US House in Illinois’ 14th district. And though November is some months away, there are some things we can do now to support her campaign.  In a joint effort with the campaign itself to re-kindle the camaraderie of canvassing and phone bank parties in person, Indivisible Evanston will be hosting weekly virtual phone bank parties with members on Thursdays beginning June 25th!

Parties will last from 5-8pm CDT and are hosted by the campaign. A member of the campaign will be on the call and offer training in the first 15-20 minutes and then ‘hang out’ for the duration, answering any questions—about the phone bank system and the script or if one of your call recipients has a question about Rep. Underwood that is not in the script and you’re unable to answer.

Sign Up to Postcard at Home With Sister District New Trier to Help a Michigan State House Representative

Sister District New Trier has its first official postcarding campaign for the 2020 general election! They are writing Get Out The Vote postcards for  Laurie Pohutsky , who is running for re-election to the state house in Michigan. She won her race by only 221 votes in her first race in 2018, so she really needs our help.

They only have 1,000 postcards right now, but don’t worry, they will have more postcards throughout the election season. These postcards must be returned to Lisa to be sent to Laurie’s campaign office by June 30th so please be prepared for a fast turnaround.

Please help support the effort with a contribution of $10 per 20 postcards and stamps. You can pick up your kits from 1707 Elmwood in Wilmette or Lisa can drop them off within the area. Sign Up to Write Postcards at Home to Wisconsin & Michigan With Indivisible Evanston

Join Indivisible Evanston to write postcards to likely Democratic voters in Wisconsin and Michigan, encouraging them to vote in the November Presidential Election. 

They will supply the postcards, names and addresses and script. You just supply the postage (and support the Post Office at the same time!) Until we can meet again in person, they will make cards and materials available for pick up seven days a week, at three locations. Just sign up and select how many packs of cards you want and when you want to pick them up. (Just check the blue Sign up box on the date you want. Click on the black “Submit and Sign up” box at the bottom of your screen. Then complete the registration, including selecting the quantity of packs you want.)

Indivisible’s  Payback Project  is a plan to target TEN Republican Senators up for reelection and take back the Senate majority. Defeating this many Senate Republicans will not be easy.
