COVID-19 UPDATE

Conservation Strategies for PPE

Washington’s health care system is experiencing significant shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE) at a time when the presence of COVID-19 is placing great demand on supplies. To successfully manage this situation for the good of all Washingtonians, including frontline health care providers (HCP) and patients, healthcare facilities and EMS in Washington state must engage in consistent PPE usage strategies and reduce variation in practice.

These strategies will be determined by the Department of Health in consultation with infectious disease experts.
Sunrise Review

The Washington State Legislature has requested the Department of Health consider a Sunrise Review application under  chapter 18.120 RCW  on a proposal to change the scope of practice for psychologists regarding prescriptive authority. It has asked for their assessment of whether the proposal meets the  sunrise criteria  for expanding a health profession’s scope of practice.

Please visit the sunrise web page  to find the request from the legislature, proposed bill HB 2967 (2020), and additional information.

The department is requesting comments on the proposal to help draft their recommendations to the legislature. Please email your comments to  sunrise@doh.wa.gov  by midnight, June 17, 2020.
DOH will also provide another opportunity for comments upon completion of a draft report. https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/WADOH/bulletins/28bda41
