Guidelines for VISTA Seedlings: Reserve and Donate
There is a recurring situation with the seedlings grown on site at VISTA Gardens - items are being taken without approval, or donation. This is likely due to a lack of awareness of how the seedling project works at VISTA, and this issue includes education on the process.
It is important to know that the seedlings raised at VISTA
are not free for members to take as they please. Nor are all seedlings available to any gardener (many are reserved) or ready to plant.
Please read the information in the aritcle below to learn how to effectively use this valuable resource and do your part to keep it financially viable.

How to Reserve Seedlings and/or Request Seedlings from the HRS
The House of the Rising Seeds (HRS) encourages VISTA gardeners to reserve seedlings in advance so we grow what is desired and use our resources of seeds, starter soil and nutrients well.
Reserved seedlings are marked “Not for Sale – Reserved for _____” When it is close to the time for transplanting, we attempt to cluster these seedlings together, along with a posted sign signaling that they are only available to those who reserved them.
HRS does raise extra seedlings, which are available only by donation on a first-come, first-served basis to any VISTA gardener. These seedlings are located on the outside white bench and shelving
Seedlings inside the HRS and on the south-facing shelves outside the HRS are not yet ready for transplant, so please do not take them. You’re always welcome to come watch their growth and reserve any that you desire for your raised garden bed.
A $1 donation is requested for each seedling. Place donations in the honor jar found on the largest bench inside the House of the Rising Seeds.
