June 3rd Start Date for Chicago Phase 3

This afternoon, Mayor Lightfoot announced that businesses included in Chicago's phase 3 reopening can plan for phase 3 to begin on Wednesday, June 3rd. 
 
Businesses included in phase 3, including non-essential retail, restaurants with outdoor seating, offices, personal services, and childcare are asked to follow industry-specific guidelines to ensure safety for customers and employees. A full list of impacted businesses and guidelines can be found at the city's reopening website. 
 
This city guidance required in addition to State guidance. This means that Chicago's requirements apply to all city businesses and are another layer that must be followed along with state guidance. The state's industry-specific guidance can be found here. 
 
Please let us know (at [email protected]) what questions you may have after reading the guidance so we can organize our feedback to the city's Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection. We are anticipating further guidance on creating outdoor space for commercial activity in the near future and will keep you updated.  
 
For those preparing to reopen, please consider purchasing PPE from the city's PPE website. This PPE is supplied by city-vetted local businesses offering PPE at fair prices.   
 
Finally, the city has another survey focused on reopening. It is geared towards residents, but there is a question where you can express how high a priority small business recovery and resources is for you.
