Stuffed Animal Sleepover
Although humans cannot gather at NUUC, stuffed animals still can (a huge thank you to our sister congregation in Palo Alto for this awesome idea)! There will be a Stuffed Animal Sleepover at NUUC the weekend of July 24-26. The sleepover will be chaperoned by Miss Merrily (NUUC Director of Puppet Ministries) and Mr. Chance Sloth, two very responsible long-time members, with support from Rev. Dr. Susan Ritchie. Rev. Ritchie will post photos of the stuffies’ activities to the NUUC facebook page all day on Saturday. The stuffed animals will do fun things all Saturday, spend the night, and be part of the worship service on Sunday morning. Be sure to watch the Sunday service to see your stuffie! (Dolls are welcome too!)
Registration
:
Please try to register your stuffed animal in advance, so we can have a name tag and provisions for them. Register by July 15,
by clicking here.
Drop-off: Please place your stuffed animal in a sturdy bag (like a paper grocery bag) with their name and your name on it. Drop them off at the back of the church, by the porch, on Friday, July 24, between 5 and 7 p.m.. Please stay in your car and wait for Rev. Ritchie to come get the bag with your stuffie. Stuffies will then stay in quarantine overnight and start their fun on Saturday. If you have a stuffie who wants to participate but you can’t make the drop off time, just email
minister@nuuc.org
for a different arrangement.
Pick-up: You can pick up your stuffed animal on Sunday, July 26, between 1 and 3 p.m. at the same place you dropped them off. Again, please stay in your car, and Rev. Ritchie will bring your stuffie to your car, in their bag. We recommend that you leave your stuffed animal in quarantine for a day or two when you get home (don’t worry, we’ll give them some snacks to tide them over until they get out of quarantine).

Summer Religious Education
Hello wonderful NUUC folks!
We are ramping up our virtual RE offerings for the summer, so please consider signing up for some sessions to help keep our kids connected!
Starting 6/28 we'll have:
-Weekly storytime for the little ones each Sunday from 9:30-10 am
-Middle grades (4th-7th) gathering for games, conversation, stories, maybe even virtual group movie night!
-8th-grade youth hangout for 6/28 and 7/5 Sundays from 8:30-9:30 PM
-Virtual Coming of Age for 8th-12th grade from 7-8:30 Sundays 7/12-8/16 (and possibly 8/23). Melinda Rosenberg will lead this but we are looking for an adult helper who can commit to the 6 week program.
I will touch base each week with those who sign up to share stories and activities. Our main goal is to make space for faith formation and connection--activities will be simple, and hopefully meaningful and fun.
Thank you in advance for signing up using the link below.

Mowing at NUUC – We Need Some Help
The Building & Grounds Committee is requesting help with the mowing. They would like to get 1-2 volunteers each month from the congregation to mow just one time during the season through October. The other weeks will be handled by B&G Committee volunteers. W
e will be taking recommended virus precautions for volunteers.
We have a zero-turn riding mower, which can be used for almost all of the mowing. For a few small, tight areas, which the zero-turn mower cannot handle, we then use a self-propelled push power mower. Using a zero-turn mower is fun and allows the mowing to be done in about half the time. If you are not familiar with using a zero-turn mower, we will give you some brief training for about 15 minutes that gets you familiar enough with the mower to comfortably mow the main parts of the yard. You will still trim the edges of the yard with the self-propelled push mower. But, some people prefer to use the push mower to mow the entire yard instead of the zero-turn mower.
Please consider volunteering to mow one time this season. If you would like to help the church handle the mowing, you can see the mowing sign-up schedule posted at this weblink:
3.ly/a74rs
. To get scheduled, just pick a date that works for your schedule and then contact Bob Keith at
bobkeith@zoho.com
or 740-369-1919. You also can contact Bob if you have questions or would like more information.
