WELCOME TO THE NEW YOUTH GROUP YEAR!
It is never lost on me how much it means when a family entrusts us with their kids so I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to partner with all of the families in our ministry. On Sunday we talked a bit about how we want to live into that partnership and I thought it would be helpful to review that here. As parents and ministry leaders we have the same goal: to move the kids towards a better future. If we sat down and figured out all the ways that could happen, these three themes would probably emerge: stronger relationships, deeper faith, and smarter decision making. So here's how we'd like to partner with you in offering those 3 things:

  • Provide community made up of 3 adults (Small Group Leaders) and peers to help build stronger relationships.
  • Create Youth Group content that lives in the intersection of teens' everyday lives and God's truth so they develop deeper faith.
  • Discuss that truth in a way that produces practical application that equips students for smarter decision making.

I'm often asked how parents can help out our ministry so here are a few simple ways that you can make that happen:

NEXT YOUTH GROUP SPORTSBALL SUNDAY
To celebrate the team spirit we're working to build in small groups, we're inviting everyone to wear something representing their favorite pro, college, national, or even fictional team to Youth Group this Sunday! We'll celebrate all the favorite teams with a special game and then head off to extended small groups to write covenants, come up with new themes, and keep getting to know each other.
STARTING THIS SUNDAY YOUTH MUSIC
Any youth vocalists who are interested in sharing their gifts with the congregation in worship are encouraged to stick around after Youth Group (6:30-7:30 pm in the Choir Room). Questions? Contact David Brinson. The Youth Music Team for the 9:45 am service will begin practice on 9/18 at 8 pm.
PARENTS SOCIAL UPCOMING DATES
Drop off your youth at Youth Group on September 22, October 20, and November 3 and then head over to the Guises' home for your own social with drinks, appetizers, and fellowship! They’re just around the corner and you're welcome to hang out there until Youth Group is done at 6:30. Look for more info in an email this Saturday. Hope to see you all there and many thanks to the Guises for hosting!
