Weekly Newsletter
August 9, 2018
Dear St. George Families,
It is so nice to hear the laughter and to see the smiles of the children and staff as we settle in this first day of the new school year. It has also been a pleasure meeting and getting to know the new families at St. George School. WELCOME!!
It was also a pleasure to see all those who attended the Back-to-School Bash on Monday. The members of the Home and School Association and all the volunteers who sat at the tables did a fantastic job preparing, presenting, and hosting this event. Many thanks to the Men's Club for cooking and serving the delicious jambalaya.
A huge thank you goes out to all of you, not only for the Back-to-School Bash, but for all your time and commitment to the education of the students at St. George School. Thank you, parents, for finding the time to attend. I would also like to thank the teachers for their preparations in getting their rooms ready and making everyone feel welcome as we continue carrying out the mission of St. George Catholic School. We truly have an amazing group of educators.
This realization brings to mind something I read from Archbishop Listecki of Milwaukee a couple of years ago. "...When our vision is so fixed on the future, or when our vision is so fixed on the past, we forget the gift of the present. How many people have entered our lives and are given to us for a short time but have made a lasting impact? We are creating lasting moments right now and we will feed on the memories that are created."
Our theme for the year is, "Seeing through the eyes of Jesus." This is right in line with our faith philosophy in preparing our children to head out into the world serving God and others by using the gifts He has given them. Here is what the Bible says about using our gifts to serve others:
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms."
We are off to a great start because so many of you have come together to make this place a place of love - love for learning, and more importantly, love for the children of God.
God bless,
Jack Nelson
