Fall for the Arts in Sequim

You can feel the chill in the air and see the leaves turning orange and gold. The days are mostly sunny with an occasional shower. It's Fall in Sequim; one of our favorite seasons. This is a great time to plan a family vacation or retreat with friends. The summer crowds have thinned, and lodging is generally lower-priced.   There is still plenty to do in the great outdoors, but it's also a good opportunity to take advantage of indoor activities and soak in the small-town arts and culture. Start thinking about what you'll do on your fall visit to Sequim. Our website has everything you need to plan your trip.

Take in the Arts
Visit the Museum & Arts Center

The Sequim Museum & Arts Center (MAC) opened a brand new, beautiful facility this year and it is a must stop. The museum hosts a combination of permanent collections including exhibits featuring the Manis Mastodon, a significant archeological find for its discovery of a man-made spear point more than 13,800 years old, and 1936 Olympic Gold Medalist Joe Rantz, a Sequim resident in his youth, who was the central character in the bestselling book by Daniel James Brown, The Boys in the Boat, along with rotating art exhibits. On exhibit now through the end of November is the 14th Annual Fiber Arts Display featuring hand-crafted goods representing a wide range of media and styles.

The Fiber Arts Display is at the Museum and Arts Center through November.

Take in a Live Play

The Olympic Theatre Arts (OTA) represents the best in community theatre with performances on the Main Stage and in the Gathering Hall. Now through October 14 you can experience an adaptation of Orson Well's 1938 panic inducing radio program "War of the Worlds...and OTA Moments." The second act of the evening will showcase anecdotes and events from OTA's 40-year history. The month of November "Silent Sky" will be on the Main Stage.

Olympic Theatre Arts presents a wide range of programming.

View the Art Collection at the Sequim Civic Center

The City of Sequim moved into new offices in the Sequim Civic Center in 2015. The City Arts Advisory Commission got to work in procuring a permanent art collection for the new facility. In 2018 the collection was revealed and includes paintings, photographs, and ceramics from local artist. The permanent collection is complemented by quarterly rotating exhibits each following a predetermined theme. Prominently featured outside the Civic Center is the 30-foot totem pole donated to the City by the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe. The totem tells the story of "Why the Sun Always Shines in Sequim" and has become a much-photographed piece of art.
