VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Communion Stewards Needed
We need one or more volunteers to serve as communion stewards on Communion Sundays, which are always the first Sunday of each month. Communion Stewards would be responsible for setting up and removing the communion supplies before and after the services.  This is not a time-consuming job, but it would be good to have two people sharing the position, so that one could be there for the 8:30 service and one for the 10:30 service.  Please contact the church office if you are interested in serving in this capacity.

Could you host one of the August coffee times after worship?
We are a church who enjoys visiting after worship, and we have several guests at each service. During the summer months there aren't committees assigned to host fellowship time and it is up to individual members to host. It's easy! Sign-up in fellowship hall {or call the church office to sign-up}. Bring in some store cookies, crackers & cheese. Make coffee. Set out cups, water and the coffee fixings. Watch people enjoy themselves & then clean-up.

MINISTRY JOTTINGS BY PASTOR DEB

Ministry Jottings

Once upon a time there was a boy named Sam who was walking in the desert and found a magic lamp on a pile of rocks. Sure enough, when he rubbed the lamp, a genie appeared. Sam asked the genie he could have three wishes. The genie replied, "I'm not that kind of genie. I give advice." "OK, then give me some advice" said Sam.

"Pick up as many rocks on this pile as you can, and take them home with you," said the genie just before he disappeared. "This is stupid," said Sam. "I have a long way to go and these rocks are heavy. I'll take one and be on my way." When he got home, he shed his clothes to be washed, and his mother found the rock. She examined it closely and asked Jimmy where he got it. "Oh, some genie told me to pick up a bunch of them, but I only picked up one." His mother exclaimed, "This isn't a rock. This is a huge diamond!" Unfortunately, Sam was never able to find that pile of rocks again.

There are many things in life that might seem like rocks, but in reality, they are diamonds. The classes we take in school. The job we go to. The home we maintain and the daily tasks of our lives. In the moment these might seem like drudgery, but they are truly extremely valuable. And following Christ can be the same way. When we serve Jesus, a lot of what we do might not seem worth the time and effort. But it's worth it. We receive strength and blessings both for the now and for what lies ahead.

In Christ's grace,
Pastor Deb
