CSG WEST JOINS NATIONAL COALITION URGING CONGRESS TO REJECT EFFORTS TO DIMINISH STATES' AUTHORITY TO MANAGE WATER QUALITY UNDER SECTION 401 OF CLEAN WATER ACT

The Council of State Governments West (CSG West) joined nine other leading associations of state officials to urge Congressional leadership to reject current legislative and administrative efforts to diminish states' authority to manage water quality within their boundaries under Section 401 of the federal Clean Water Act (CWA).

The August 9, 2018 letter to House Speaker  Rep. Paul Ryan  and Minority Leader  Rep. Nancy Pelosi , Senate Majority Leader  Sen. Mitch McConnell  and Minority Leader  Sen. Signatories include: CSG West, CSG National, Western Governors' Association, National Association of Counties - Western Interstate Region; Western States Water Council; Association of Clean Water Administrators; Association of State Wetland Managers; Western Interstate Energy Board; Conference of Western Attorneys General; Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies.
