It's Time for the 2018-19 School Year!
It is SO GREAT to have our entire team back for the 2018-19 school year! We enjoyed kicking off our first official day together with breakfast and an expo featuring local businesses and organizations before our All Employee Meeting. It was wonderful to reflect on the growth and success our students and district have experienced, celebrate teammates for their years of service. Also, thank you for joining in as we sang "Happy Birthday" to Dr. Wistrom, and for being engaged as we centered on our number one priority of taking care of students and fellow teammates! Welcome back, team!
Car Line Help, Please!
We are asking families for their help! Once school begins traffic congestion gets pretty heavy, especially at dismissal times near the elementary buildings. We think one way we can help combat this is by asking families using the car line to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before dismissal time. As a reminder, once students are dismissed the wait isn't too long at all! From the first student who is picked up to the last student, there is only about a 12 minute difference! Of course, the first few days of school will take a bit longer as more families are picking up, but with some patience we will get the car lines moving smoothly, safely and as fast as possible soon! Check out this video for more! Be sure to share this information with anyone who picks up your student from school.

**Teachers, please share this in your family communication!

Required Text Opt-In...If You Haven't Already!
To receive texts from the district be sure you have opted  in to do so! If you haven't opted  in yet, the below directions might help! You only have to opt-in one time, not annually!

If you are pretty confident your cell number is  in our system first try manually texting "Y" to code 67587. If that goes through, you will receive a confirmation text letting you know you are signed up to receive future texts. If that works, you are good to go.

However, if that does not work please contact [email protected] so we can double-check that your number is  in our system correctly. If it's not, we will manually put it  in the system and then you should receive the  opt- in message the next day.

If your number is already  in our system, the issue is most likely with your wireless carrier.  In that case you will need to contact your wireless provider and let them know you are unable to receive SMS messages. They should be able to turn them on. Thank you!

**This is important information to note for new employees, new students and our incoming kindergarten and preschool families. Please share!
Communications Test Friday
TOMORROW, Friday, August 10 a test text message will be going out to all employees at approximately noon. If you have already opted in, but do NOT receive this text, please contact [email protected]. As a reminder, to receive text messages you must first opt in by sending "Y" to 67587. You only have to opt-in one time, not annually.

Also, if you know someone not receiving the Staff Communicator, have them contact [email protected]

Free Mobile App
Have you downloaded the Republic School District free mobile app? If not, simply search for "Republic School District" in your app store. This free app has been designed to provide our patrons with a quick and easy resource for the most sought after information distributed by the district.

Upon downloading, you will be asked to set-up the app for your personal preferences. During this process you can tap to select the schools for which you'd like to receive information. At any time you can update your preferences in the app's settings. Specifically, the calendar, announcements and notification areas will be customized to your school settings. Keep in mind the notification area will be used very minimally as we will continue to utilize the current text and voice calling system in place.

Parent Portal Has a New Look & Updated Contact Information
The Parent Portal has a new, easy-to-navigate look! To check it out visit  republicschools.org and click on the "Parent Portal" icon or choose this icon inside the Republic School District mobile app. As a reminder, to login use the email address you have provided to the district and enter the password you have created. If you've forgotten it, simply click on the "forgot password" button and follow the prompts.

This is a great tool that allows you to see grade information, meal service balances and to ensure contact information is correct.  Speaking of this, as a parent, please login to the Parent Portal and make sure the address, email and phone numbers we have on file for you are correct. You can find this information under the "Update Household Data" icon. Any changes you submit will be sent to your child's building office for final approval. Having updated contact information helps us to be able to communicate with families throughout the school year, and it also helps us determine correct busing routes.

**TAKE NOTE: At this time this will not impact the internal SISK12 format.

Bus Rider Expectations
The safe transportation of our students is a top priority for the Republic School District. To ensure that each route and trip provided to our students is safe and pleasant, it is imperative that a safe, clean and controlled environment is provided on the bus. In that regard, we ask that all bus riders and guardians review the bus riding expectations listed  HERE

**Please share with students and families.
