We are full of farms, flowers, and friendly smiles this weekend at Hollywood Farmers Market and will be open at 8am. Be sure to keep an eye out this week for snap peas and broccoli at Deep Roots and Wintergreen Farms and stop by Herr's Family Farm for blooming bouquets of peonies and lilies.
Its not too late to join a CSA full of fresh and local produce, meat, and dairy. Naked Acres, Sun Gold, Stoneboat, Flying Coyote, Deck Family and Wintergreen Farms all offer CSA shares that can be picked up at the market each Saturday. Check out their websites or stop by their booths this week for information on pricing, pick up, produce and more. 
The Pacific Northwest is in the midst of morel season but act quick because it won't last long! Be sure to hit up vendors Nature's Wild Harvest and Peak Forest Fruit for these fantastically flavored fungi this weekend before its too late. 
Wintergreen Farm and Fire Brew will be making their seasonal debuts in Hollywood this Saturday. Also returning this week is Stone Barn Brandyworks, Moon Coffee, and More Bees. 
Finding yourself thirsty in this beautiful spring sun? Vendors Sacred Summit and Portland Juice Company are releasing new seasonal flavors this spring to help quench your thirst. Stop by their booths for a taste and a bottle to take home.
With sunnier skies soaring over Portland, now is a great time to start biking to the market. While we do encourage pedaling, for the safety of all of our customers we ask that those with bicycles walk while inside the market itself. You can walk your bike through or use one of the many bike locks located around the market while you shop.

Power of Produce kids program starts June 9th!

It's just three weeks until our new kids program, Power of Produce (POP) Club begins on Saturday, June 9th. POP Club will run every Saturday through September 1st. It's a new HFM kids program designed to empower kids to make healthy food choices, introducing them to where their food comes from through fun activities.

Here's how POP Club works:

  • Kids, aged 5-12 come to the POP Club booth on market day, located in Hancock Street toward the east (45th Ave) entrance to the market.
  • Fill out their POP Club passports if this is their first visit to the booth.
  • Participate in activities based around food, nutrition and food growing. At every POP Club market you can find activities such as produce tastings, salad-making, scavenger hunts, games and more!
  • Receive $2 in POP Club wooden tokens EVERY time they come to market during the POP Club season!
Street Mural re-painting: July 15

Seascape Strawberries
Happy Harvest Farm
Seascapes are the quiet hero of Northwest strawberry varieties; always the first to arrive at market in the spring, and continuing to produce all summer long and even into the fall! Happy Harvest will have plentiful Seascapes this Saturday, sold by the pint, half-flat and flat. Hood strawberries are just a week or two away!

'Korbs Highlight' Dahlia
Old House Dahlias
Mark from Old House Dahlias has the shortest season of any HFM vendor - he brings his dahlias bulbs over from Tillamook for just two Saturdays in May, and this Saturday will be his second and final appearance. He has over 50 varieties of dahlia, and one of his favorites this year is "Korbs Highlight", a yellow-white stunner that produces prolific bulbs.

Pork Sausage
Nourishment
This featured product also has a connection to another HFM vendor - Naked Acres Farm! They had a breeding sow that had gotten too big to butcher into traditional cuts. Luckily, Ramona from Nourishment was looking for sausage meat and went "whole hog"! She'll now be offering pork sausage, which you can have in any of Nourishment's breakfast burritos or chilequiles.
