Fall Trail Tip!

Fall brings cooler weather and
Hunting Season!

THERE IS NO HUNTING ALLOWED ON BLUE JAY PROPERTY

but be aware that once you leave Blue Jay's boundaries, you may be crossing into State Game Lands. The end of Blue Jay's property is clearly marked, and you have to cross Six Forks Road or a long bridge to get to State Game Lands so it won't happen by accident.

Spotlight on
Blue Jay Staff

M eet Daniel Niwinski
 Park Aide-Operations
began in May 201 9

What do you enjoy most about your
day-to-day work at the park?

Seeing people enjoying and using the park. It is truly rewarding to see the work we do as the staff, keeping the park maintained and functional, come back through as positive experiences for our patrons.

Where does your passion for parks
stem from?

Passion for parks really came to me in college, when I switched my major to Recreation Management at Appalachian State University.  Once I started studying and realizing the true value of parks, it became the obvious career path for me!

Where is your favorite place at
 Blue Jay Point?

Beaver Point, it's the more secluded of the 3 point trails. Which gives it a nice calmness while sitting on the bench and overlooking
the lake.

What has been your most interesting or memorable discovery in the park?

The first time making it to the top of the big hill at Green Hills County Park. I was running at Green Hills and decided to challenge myself to run to the top. It was well worth it! Made it to the top just as the sun was going down, absolutely gorgeous!
