Specialty painters, master plasterers, and paint and art conservators are eager to revive the lost refinement of the details in the Adam Boardroom at The Branch House. This week they have been removing patches, layers, and 13 generations of paint where possible. Details throughout the room have become more pronounced -- the way Beulah Branch would have seen them. With scalpels and dental tools, the oval ceiling medallion revealed scallops and a center floral rosette with petals. Plaster molds were made and new elements were cast for missing or disfigured parts of plaster details by Rebekah and Nathan Jamerson, Master Plasterers.
Jeff Marble of Richmond Paint Pros, prepared the walls and ceiling before these repairs and painted. Maeve Bristow and Jesse Robertson of BlackCreek Workshop, worked with Suzanne Collins, cleaning the ornamentation. Their completed work will define design features unseen for many years! We are lucky to have the expertise of such invested and interested preservation partners in this conservation effort.
