Polk County 2018 Flood Assistance Program
Polk County's 2018 Flood Assistance Program has been implemented to assist low to moderate income residents of single-family owner-occupied homes to replace or repair water heaters, furnaces and electrical panels from damage caused by floodwater.

Homeowners who fall below 80% of the median income level for Polk County and who have had flood damage will qualify for up to $6,000 to replace their water heater, furnace and electrical panels. The cost for furnace will be capped at $2,750, hot water heater at $1,750 and electrical panel at $1,500 - in aggregate not to exceed $6,000.
Reimbursement will be available for homeowners who meet the income guidelines that already have replaced these items - paid invoices will be required. Owner-occupied mobile homes will be eligible for up to $750 for water heaters, furnaces and electrical panels. Rental, multi-family and commercial properties are not eligible for this program.

The program will be jointly administered by the Polk County Public Works Department and staff of the affected cities within Polk County.

Bike Trail Opened
All sections of the trail have been repaired and open for use! Restoration work will hopefully start next week.

Relocation of Parking Signs
In the spring of 2018, the City of Windsor Heights contracted Bolton and Menk to conduct a traffic safety study in the vicinity of Cowles Elementary School. One of the recommendations that came from their study was to put vehicle parking on the same side of the street as the sidewalk on 64 th Street.

We have reviewed the 'No Parking' signs on all streets in Windsor Heights and found that we are not consistent with the recommendations provided by the traffic study. We will be changing the 'No Parking' signs to the other side of street in certain locations throughout the City. Residents that will be affected will receive a letter.  This work will be completed before school starts back up in late August.

Your patience is very much appreciated during this transition. If you have questions or concerns that you would like to express, please call our Public Works Director, Dalton Jacobus, at 515-645-6825.
Windsor Heights Dog Park Closed
The Windsor Heights Dog Park is still closed until the fence repair can be made. The contractor said it should be completed around mid to late August. Please keep watch for updates.
63rd Sidewalk Updates
All concrete has been placed for the entire project and the sidewalks are open.  The Contractor still has some punch list items to be completed.  Areas that need to be seeded or reseeded will occur when more favorable growing conditions occur, late summer/early fall. The street is open and we do not expect any more delays.
