News and tech tips from Tammy Finch at Web Services
Web Tech Newsletter
We have been using WordPress software for quite a few years now and it's actually the standard software in use to build websites.  Because of this, I'm active in the WordPress community, holding the monthly WordPress meet up in our office area here at Web Services.

So I'm pleased to announce the 2nd annual WordCamp Peoria to be held at Illinois Central College North on September 15th.  I encourage everyone to come.  We will have presentations on marketing, business, and using WordPress.  Check out the website for more information.  Registration is open - $20 gets you a great day of education, lunch and a free shirt!  I hope to see you there!

Thank you for your business and support

More News About HTTPS and Security Certificates

Last month, your Chrome browser started marking websites not using a SSL certificate as "not secure".  The warning looks like this:

I know I've discussed the importance of having an SSL on your site because your Google ranking will be better, but now Google Chrome is a bit more harsh.  If I host your website, I'm happy to install the certificate on your site and renew it.  It's well worth the extra $5 per month ($60 per year).  SSL Certificates are much more affordable than they used to be ($250 per year).  You certainly do not want people going to your site and getting this message.  Here is an article talking about more security changes coming in September.

Let me know how I can help!

Instagram Fun

If you are using Instagram, check out this fun feed we can install on your website.  There are two ways you can use it:
Adding your own Instagram feed or u sing a hashtag so you can include others within your feed, as NASNPRO does

A Cheep Tee has a fun Instagram feed on our website too

There is a small set up fee to install it on your site but it's a great way to show off your pictures and followers.

Video Sliders

We are having some success using our video sliders now.  It's really catching on!  Facebook started allowing videos on their cover photos so now, we have been adding videos instead of pictures on website home page banners.  We have stock videos too, if you do not have one.  Check out some of the sites using videos instead of images for their banners.

Computer News

Chris and Kevin have a lot of computers and parts for a "Back to School" sale at Web Tech Services.  They can also help with upgrades, repair (even laptop screens) virus removal or data recovery.  If you would like to purchase a nice refurbished desktop or laptop.  They have a few in stock.
