2017 Hepatitis C Change Maker
We are proud to announce that FIRE's executive director, Meredith Potts, was recognized by The Economist as a 2017 HCV Change Maker. The Change Maker program honors 18 innovators who are dedicating their efforts to three thematic areas: multi-stakeholder approaches, screening, and technology. Meredith was honored for her exemplary devotion to making screening more readily available throughout Mongolia.

Fair Trade Handi-Crafts from Mongolia

FIRE has beautiful, handmade crafts from Bayan-Ölgii, the ethnically Kazakh area of western Mongolia. 

FIRE purchased these items directly from the artists themselves in Mongolia. The six artists who made these products consists of individual artisans and women's co-ops that are helping to alleviate poverty by providing jobs to unemployed  women who are often single mothers.

Your purchase contributes  to a more fair and just international economy and supports FIRE's work in Mongolia.

Rotary U.S.-Mexico Friendship Conference 
FIRE's executive director and member of the Flagstaff Rotary Club, Meredith Potts, presented FIRE's and the Flagstaff Rotary Club's collaborative Global Grant with the  the Rotary Club of Ulaanbaatar, "Hepatitis Free Mongolia," at the Rotary U.S.-Mexico Friendship Conference & Global Grants Exchange '17 in Phoenix, AZ this past  October. 

Thank you to the 8 Rotary districts and 26 Rotary clubs from 6 countries around the world who made this grant possible, and to the organizers and participants of the wonderful and inspirational conference in October.


Langtang Valley October  Volunteer Trip
FIRE hosted two volunteer trips this year in Langtang Valley, Nepal with a combined total of seven volunteers.  We had great trips filled with lots of laughs, culture, amazing views--and a bit of work as well ! Thank you to all our incredible volunteers!

Kazakh Wall Hangings
We have 4
 hand-made wall hangings from the Kazakh region of western Mongolia.  These are beautiful, one of a kind pieces of art. They are lovingly made over several months and given as a gift in honor of a marriage, birth of other special occasion.
