Tinker to Evers to Chance: The Chicago Cubs and the Dawn of Modern America

Their names were chanted, crowed, and cursed. Joe Tinker, Johnny Evers, and Fresno's own Frank Chance came together in rough-and-tumble early twentieth- century Chicago and soon formed the defensive core of the most formidable team in baseball's National League.

Author David Rapp will discuss his new book, Tinker to Evers to Chance: The Chicago Cubs and the Dawn of Modern America. Rapp's engaging history resets the story of the World Series winning 1908 Cubs. His narrative enables us to marvel anew a the feats of the unstoppable trio and provides a rare look at one of baseball's first dynasties in action. Signed books available to purchase.

A historic photograph exhibit of local baseball history will be on display.

Membership, Bequests and Estate Plan Gifts

We kindly ask that our members and friends remember the Fresno Historical Society in their estate planning.

Memberships dues are essential in helping to sustain the Fresno Historical Society from year to year. From time to time the Fresno Historical Society receives funding through estate bequests. These funds help tremendously with larger projects and programs undertaken by the Society. These gifts assure our members that, through their estate planning, they can do even more to protect our heritage for future generations. You can, too. You'll be helping to protect our history and yours for years to come.

Benefits include:
  • Your gift costs you nothing now, and you retain control of your assets during your lifetime.
  • You can change your mind or modify your gift if circumstances change.
  • Your gift can remain anonymous if you choose.
  • Your gift may provide tax savings or help reduce the tax burden for your heirs.
  • You can leave a gift in honor or memory of someone who inspired your love of history.
Click HERE for more information on starting your estate planning.  Bequests that are non-specific or broadly worded will go farther to support our projects and programs. Consulting an estate planning attorney is recommended.
