Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)
Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"

Les Peterson, Mayor of Carefree
The Momentum Continues to Build in Carefree!
The momentum continues to build for Carefree businesses, and the Town of Carefree. Increased activity at existing businesses, new businesses coming to town, new residential construction activity and attendance in the towns exciting marketing programs are leading the way. Of note:
Increased activity at existing businesses – Bashas supermarket continues to report strong sales volume since its grand re-opening and remodeling in October of 2016. The Starbucks in Bashas experienced its highest sales week ever last week. The renovations at the historic Spanish Village are nearing completion, and the popular Black Mountain Coffee Shop is under new ownership.
New businesses coming to town - Civana Carefree, the world class resort focused upon sustainable wellness, is substantially remodeling the previous Carefree Resort and Conference Center and reports that its remodeling activities are well underway and on-schedule. The new Bacan Restaurant in Spanish Village, with contemporary Latin American food, is scheduled for opening within a few days. Design plans for the new 130+ unit luxury rental home development on the previous Ed Lewis property in downtown Carefree are moving forward.
New residential construction activity – Sales at the Eastwood Development of Keystone Homes continues at a fast pace. Construction of single family custom homes has returned to levels not seen since before the economic downturn of 2008 – 2012.
Attendance in the Towns exciting marketing programs – Attendance during the nine days of the “Enchanted Pumpkin Garden” event was over an estimated 75,000, roughly 10,000 more than in 2016. The popular “Christmas in Carefree” event, this year spanning a full twenty three days from December 1 – 23 and with a tree lighting ceremony on December 1
st
, photos with Santa, Holiday Luminarias and the Carefree Desert Gardens Glitters lighting, promises to attract record crowds to the downtown area.
More positive developments are happening in Carefree every day. We will let you know of them as plans unfold.

Ernie Bunch, Mayor of Cave Creek
If We Make It Through December. A Merle Haggard classic about a man who loses his job and is looking forward to a brighter future from the depths of his misfortune. One of the lines is "I don't mean to hate December, it's meant to be a happy time of year".
A very hectic Month for those who procrastinate but, up in Cave Creek it's mostly fun.
We've got a lot going on with just our everyday business especially if you enjoy a great meal. Those Winter visitors certainly deserve a tour through our Town with, live Music, Dancing, Bull Riding, and other attractions.
New this year, Ollie's Trolley is making a loop through Town and up into Carefree on the weekends. For something really special there is now a horse drawn Stagecoach for a true Western Experience!
Enjoy the Month, enjoy family and the time we get to spend together. Most of all there's really no need to hate December!

From the Cave Creek Museum
Kraig Nelson, historian and docent
Metropolitan Phoenix is named after the mythical bird that experienced a rebirth after burning. One of the founders of Phoenix who was known as “Lord” Darrell Duppa (Brian Phillip Darrell Duppa) is credited with naming the 1867 hamlet (he named Tempe and founded New River as well). Phoenix was officially recognized May 4, 1868 by the Yavapai Board of Supervisors (Maricopa County didn’t exist until February 14, 1871).
The dapper yet tough “Lord” Duppa was educated at Cambridge University (he was an Englishman). He spoke five languages and could recite Shakespeare for hours; he knew ancient classics and mythology and was shot three times by the Apaches. Duppa, along with
the
founder of Phoenix, Jack Swilling, observed evidence of an ancient civilization (the Hohokam) and their vast canal system. The story of the beautiful, crimson and gold feathered bird, which would be consumed by fire and rise to live another 500 years was a metaphor for the new town’s rebirth. The “Phoenix” myth was first addressed in the 8
th
century BC. The rebirth story was part of Chinese, Egyptian, Arabian, Greek, and Persian mythology.
