Good Morning,
Most of us lead busy lives. We have things to do and places to go. We live in a 24/7 world. When we slow down, we watch TV; we listen to talk radio; we text; we read books and on and on.

How many of us spend any time in silence alone with our thoughts, alone with our God? It seems like every time I try it, either my mind wanders to something going on in my life or I fall asleep. It isn't an easy task. My experience is we pray to God on the run but never seem to have time to listen. We hope he answers by guiding what we do and then move on.

Maybe the trick is to make  an appointment on our calendar. We go somewhere such as a quiet room, the beach, or a local park. Turn everything off and quit thinking about all that is going on in our lives. If the mind gravitates toward God, listen without talking. Maybe the old adage "Act your way into a new way of thinking" applies here. We start by making the time. We focus the thinking and over time, we will hear the voice.
I don't have the magic answer. I wish I did. If you do, it would be interesting to hear from you.
Have a great week,
Jim
