Urgent Call to Action: #savehospitality
Yesterday’s extremely disappointing and surprising announcement from the state suggests that State officials have not yet come to fully appreciate the devastation our industry is facing, so we are urging members to  contact the governor’s office and recruit 10 others to do the same.

The Ask:  reconsider the decision and honor the promise to begin opening our businesses on June 1. Operators relied directly on the governor’s statements that a plan would be laid out to open restaurants, bars and other businesses beginning June 1. Operators made financial decisions based upon this public declaration. They are now in jeopardy of financial collapse. Meanwhile, malls, big box retailers and others are open. This lacks all commonsense.

The governor needs to hear directly from you how yesterday’s decision threatens your business, your livelihood, your employees, and your future. Be direct and persuasive, but respectful.

Take this opportunity to acknowledge the complexities presented by the pandemic and declare your commitment to help lead the State in balancing public health with economic recovery. Convey that you have been doing your part, and now the State needs to do theirs:

Phone: (651) 201-3400 or (800) 657-3717 (toll free)

We are also asking members to record a short (1-1 ½ minutes) video testimonial stating:

  1. Your name, business, and number of employees (and history of business if you choose)
  2. How the decision effects your business’ viability and/or likelihood of survival
  3. In order to save our small businesses, we need the governor to reconsider and allow us to open safely as other states are doing

Send your #savehospitality video testimonials to  info@hospitalitymn.com . You can view earlier examples on  our YouTube channel .

We intend to use these with the governor, policymakers and the media as opportunities present.
NRA on PPP to Congressional Leaders
The National Restaurant Association sent a letter yesterday to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy urging support for  H.R. 6886, the Paycheck Protection Flexibility Act . This legislation provides crucial fixes to the PPP that reflect the uncertainty of evolving government responses, a massive rehiring effort for the nation’s second-largest private employer and the ongoing economic challenges for small businesses.
CDC Reopening Guidelines on Pools
Though not slated to open in Minnesota until Phase 2, the CDC has issued  new guidelines  for reopening pools and water parks.
