Principal's Message 10/3/19

Dear Parents,

It is the beginning of a new month, and there are many announcements and upcoming events for the coming weeks, so please read this message in its entirety so as not to miss something important.

On behalf of the faculty and staff at St. Catherine of Siena School, I would like to thank the eighth-grade team of parents who provided us with the beautiful staff breakfast on Friday morning. It was a wonderful way to make the teachers truly feel special and appreciated.

On October 15 students will begin wearing their standard uniforms. Please look on our school website to see the Student and Parent Handbook for standard uniform requirements.  Warm weather uniforms will resume after April break.

Mrs. Hurley has been diligently working on the SCSS Family Directory. If you do not want to be a part of this directory, please send in your opt-out form by October 7. Families who do not send in an opt-out form will be included in the directory.

Maybe you have noticed that the parking spaces in the front of the school are mostly empty. This is because I have asked the teachers and staff to use the church parking lot so as to leave parking spaces open in the front of the building. Leaving these spaces open allows for families to park in the designated spaces instead of blocking the fire lane. This can be especially helpful for preschool families who are picking up and dropping off at the front of the building. Please be mindful that the spaces have been left open for families and that parking in the fire lane is not permitted.

At St. Catherine of Siena School, we love to share in a child's birthday joy. However, it is school policy that no food items be brought as a part of those celebrations. Instead, we hope you will consider donating a book, game or puzzle to your child's class in your child's name. Each teacher has stickers that can be placed on the donated item that acknowledges the donation. This is a special way to share in the joy of a birthday and to help keep our classrooms stocked with books and games for indoor recess.

Thursday folders will continue to be sent home each week to each family. Occasionally there will be items in the folders that are age or grade specific. Please check your child's backpack for his or her Thursday folder each week.
