Indianapolis, IN (August 6, 2018) - The River Friendly Farmer (RFF) Program
is a collaborative effort of government agencies, agricultural organizations, Indiana Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) and farmers. Since 1999, Indiana's Soil and Water Conservation Districts have nominated farmers who do an exemplary job protecting rivers, lakes and streams through their every day conservation management practices. The goal is to improve soil health and water quality and restore and sustain human and wildlife habitat in Indiana's watersheds.
"We are honored to be able to recognize these 49 farmers at the River Friendly Farmer awards program this year. These farmers join the over 900 recipients of this award as many of us in Indiana continue to work hard and move forward in protecting our natural resources," states Jamie Scott, IASWCD Board President.
This year 49 farmers/landowners will be honored for their
good production management practices
at the Indiana State Fair at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15 in the 4-H Exhibit Hall. Lieutenant Governor, Suzanne Crouch, along with Indiana Farm Bureau President Randy Kron, will be presenting the awards.
A complete list of the 2018 River Friendly Farmer Award recipients is located on the IASWCD website.
