Community Update
September 20, 2019
Dear Cedar Springs Families,

Yesterday, our school, along with Waldorf schools around the world, celebrated the 100th anniversary of Waldorf Education. In the past year, Cedar Springs has participated in several initiatives to connect with and support fellow Waldorf schools around the world, including a postcard exchange and the #waldorf100windows Instagram campaign.

To continue building our connections to other Waldorf schools, on Saturday, September 21st 9:30am-12pm, we'll be participating with our local sister schools in a celebration of Waldorf Education at Sacramento Waldorf School. This free, family-friendly event will feature hands-on activities, musical performances and a guided museum tour about the history of Waldorf schools in the Sacramento region. Paula ThompSon will be placing our school verse, written by our founding faculty, in a time capsule to be buried at Sac Waldorf along with sentiments from our sister schools.

On September 19th we participated in the launch of the short film below by featuring it on the home page of our website and our Facebook page. Please help spread the word about Waldorf Education by sharing this video among friends and family.
Please read below for important information about our upcoming Michaelmas Festival. We look forward to seeing you there!

Festivities begin at 11 AM til 1:30 PM
Michaelmas
The Second Grade presents the “Michaelmas Play” by Nancy Jewel Poer (with special appearances by the First, Fourth, and Sixth Grades) in the amphitheater. Witness Micha’el inspire courage to defeat the Dragon with love! Following a community brown bag lunch, we commence our “Feats of Courage” activities in the back meadow. Cheer as our students face challenges and earn ribbons! Finally, celebrate our school birthday with a treat. Friday dismissal will take place at 1:30, as usual.
Important Information:
  • Only CSWS Grades students may participate in the Feats and students must stay with their classes; family and friends are welcome to watch.
  • Early Childhood students will have their own age-appropriate celebration. EC parents, please plan for parking restraints and delays during pickup that Friday.
  • No individual photography/videotaping is allowed, but our official photographer will capture the day!
  • Audience members are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and eat with the school in the amphitheater.
  • Please arrive early for parking. There will be parking available on the lower campus with accessible parking only on the upper campus. Overflow parking will be available from the Church of the Nazarene, just around the corner on Mother Lode Dr. There will be a campus shuttle available 10:30-11am and 1:15-1:45pm.
