festivalSTEM Festivals in Northeast Iowa

Last year was another amazing year for STEM festivals in northeast Iowa. The Northeast Region of the Iowa Governor's STEM Advisory Council, and its partners, hosted four regional Family STEM festivals in fiscal year 2017-18. Over 5,100 (41% between the ages of 6-12 years old) attended the events to interact with 152 hands-on exhibits. Exhibitors represented business and industry, county and state government, higher education, K-12 schools and non-profits.

The STEM festivals attracted people from communities across the region. The map below represents the cities and towns in which attendees were from.

Thank you to the planning committees, volunteers and exhibitors for inspiring our young people.

Exhibitor registration is now open for the STEM festivals this Fall. Please join us in sharing the excitement of STEM and to inform kids and their parents about the career opportunities involving STEM.

externshipSTEM Teacher Externships in Northeast Iowa

How many times have you heard a student ask, "When will I ever use this? The Iowa STEM Teacher Externships Program helps teachers answer that age-old question.

During this past summer, 21 educators in Northeast Iowa worked side-by-side with knowledgeable and skilled industry employees who helped bring the classroom curriculum to life. Teacher Externships provided educators with the exposure to answer questions about real-world application and future careers.

Below is a list of teachers from Northeast Iowa that participated in the Iowa STEM Teacher Externship program through the Iowa Governor's STEM Advisory Council.
